Allison Mack, the actress known for her role on Smallville, will share her account of involvement in the NXIVM sex-trafficking case, after previously admitting her guilt.
Actress Allison Mack, age 43 and recently married, will launch a CBC podcast called Uncover: Allison After NXIVM on November 4th. This podcast will be the first time she’s publicly shared her story and experiences with the sex-trafficking organization NXIVM.
Back in July 2023, Mack was released from prison a year early.
Mack was released from prison on Monday, July 3, 2023, after serving a three-year sentence that began in September 2021 at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California, according to federal records.
In her new podcast, she’ll share her experiences both before and after being involved in the cult, and she’ll also be talking to people who knew her then.
The podcast’s announcement also says she’ll explore the complex areas where influence, responsibility, and forgiveness meet.

As a lifestyle expert, I always encourage people to be mindful of the company they keep. It’s incredibly sad to see anyone fall prey to manipulation, and the case involving actress Allison Mack is a stark reminder of that. She became known for playing a positive role on the show Smallville, but in 2019, she admitted to wrongdoing related to NXIVM, a group led by Keith Raniere. Specifically, she pleaded guilty to charges involving coercing women into becoming involved in abusive situations under Raniere’s control. It’s a really troubling story and highlights the dangers of cult-like environments and coercive control.
Mack served less than two years at FCI Dublin, a low-security prison for women that gained notoriety when actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman were incarcerated there for their involvement in a college admissions scheme.
By working with federal investigators, she received a lighter prison sentence. Raniere, convicted of sex trafficking, was sentenced to 120 years in prison.
Mack assisted prosecutors in presenting evidence detailing how Raniere established a clandestine group where women were manipulated, branded with his initials, and coerced into sexual relations with him.
Besides Mack, the group also included Clare Bronfman, who inherited wealth from the Seagram’s liquor company, and India Oxenberg, the daughter of television actress Catherine Oxenberg, known for her role on ‘Dynasty’.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve followed this case closely, and it’s heartbreaking. Before her sentencing in federal court in Brooklyn, Mack finally turned on Raniere, the leader of the cult, and openly expressed how sorry she was – she truly seemed to feel remorse and guilt for her involvement.
She began performing – acting and modeling – when she was just four years old. Her first television role came at age fifteen, and in 2001, she became well-known for playing Chloe Sullivan, the close friend of Clark Kent, on the show Smallville.
The show aired from 2001 to 2011, winning Mack two Teen Choice Awards and earning several nominations for TV awards. It was during the filming of this show that Mack first encountered NXIVM, attending a meeting in 2007.

After the TV show Smallville ended in 2011, she relocated to New York City. She frequently participated in NXIVM workshops and often traveled to Albany, where Raniere resided.
In 2012, she decided to relocate to Albany to be near NXIVM and its leader, Raniere, rather than continue applying to the Yale Drama School.
Raniere founded NXIVM in Albany during the 1990s, initially as a self-help organization that later grew nationwide.
The company initially gained recognition for its ‘Executive Success Program,’ a series of courses that promised to help people reach their goals by breaking down psychological barriers.
Raniere started a secret branch, known as the DOS, in about 2015 that was just for women.
Prosecutors allege the defendant controlled a secret group of women he manipulated and coerced into sexual activity. They claim he used blackmail and enforced strict, unhealthy diets, and even branded them with his initials.
Mack became a master, as well as Raniere’s slave, around 2016.
Mack confessed that, following Raniere’s instructions, she gathered damaging information and photos of two women. Within the group, this was referred to as ‘collateral,’ and she used it to threaten the women with public exposure unless they engaged in sexual acts he demanded.

Prosecutors stated that Mack forced victims to work, take nude photos, and, in certain instances, have sexual encounters with Raniere.
In 2017, while NXIVM was under investigation, Raniere and Mack escaped to Mexico, hoping to rebuild the organization there.
He was arrested at a luxury villa in Puerto Vallarta and sent back to the US in March 2018.
A few days after the initial events, Mack was arrested in New York and faced multiple serious charges, including conspiracy related to racketeering, forced labor, wire fraud, and sex trafficking. He was specifically accused of conspiring to commit these crimes, as well as actual acts of sex trafficking and attempting to do so.

Once released from jail on bail, Mack was told she wasn’t allowed to contact anyone involved with NXIVM, including her wife, Nicki Clyne, who was also a member.
The pair married in 2017 but Mack filed for divorce in December 2022.
Reports indicated the couple married because Raniere wanted to help Clyne, a Canadian citizen, stay in the United States.
Clyne was not charged in relation to the NXIVM case.
I’m so happy for Mack! It seems like her life has really turned around lately. She actually got married to a guy named Frank! It was a small, private ceremony in Los Angeles back in June, according to TMZ, and I couldn’t be more thrilled for her.
According to family sources, the couple first met at a dog park after she completed her prison sentence and became engaged around Christmas last year.
