Kristen Stewart had her wife, Dylan Meyer, by her side on Sunday for a screening of her new movie, The Chronology of Water, at the 2025 AFI FEST in Hollywood.
The couple, an actress aged 35 and a 37-year-old screenwriter, appeared very much in love as they made their first public appearance on the red carpet since getting married six months ago.
Kristen turned heads in a delicate, see-through lace dress that showed off her figure. She paired the dress with matching leggings.
Oh my gosh, she was absolutely radiant! I was completely mesmerized watching her sweep her hair up into that gorgeous top knot. And the way she was holding her wife’s hand… so sweet! She was just beaming and playfully posing for the cameras, and honestly, it was everything. I could have watched her all day!
Dylan stood by her side, looking relaxed and comfortable in a simple outfit of a black T-shirt, olive green pants, and polished leather shoes.
The couple got married in a small, meaningful ceremony with loved ones in April.

Photos from the private wedding showed Kristen reading her vows to Dylan, looking a little nervous as she held her hands. Dylan then read their vows, and Kristen was seen wiping away tears.
The couple chose unconventional wedding outfits. Dylan wore a see-through top with a satin skirt, and Kristen opted for a cream-colored patterned shirt and matching shorts.
The couple first met in 2013 while working on a film, but they didn’t begin dating until August 2019. They reconnected at a party thrown by a friend and started their relationship then.
In the summer of 2021, people began speculating that Kristen and her partner were engaged after both were spotted wearing rings. Kristen confirmed the engagement to Howard Stern in November.
Kristen’s first film as director, The Chronology of Water, is based on the powerful 2011 memoir by American swimmer Lidia Yuknavitch, which she also helped produce and adapt for the screen.
Imogen Poot plays Lidia in a powerful drama about a woman who overcomes a difficult childhood to become a competitive swimmer.
Imogen, age 36, turned heads at the movie screening in a short, sparkly dress that faded from blue to green.
Let me tell you, Thora Birch absolutely nailed the gothic look on the red carpet! She wore this stunning black lace dress with a delicate, sheer tulle skirt – it was the perfect blend of edgy and elegant, and really captured that whole vibe.

Oh my gosh, you guys, Kirsten showed the film at Cannes in May, and it was EVERYTHING! Seriously, the critics went wild for it, and everyone gave it a standing ovation! I was so jealous I wasn’t there, but I’ve seen all the clips a million times and it looked incredible!
Variety praised the film as a moving story of overcoming hardship, beautifully and passionately told. Indiewire’s David Ehrlich noted the movie is bursting with the intense energy of a true artist, right down to every second.
After the film premiered at Cannes, Kristen Stewart shared her excitement about bringing Lidia’s story to the screen. She told AFP that the book was incredibly compelling and felt destined to be adapted into a movie – something that needed to come to life.
She excitedly explained how amazing it was that Lidia could transform unpleasant things into something beautiful and hopeful, something you could actually enjoy living with.
I was really drawn to this movie because I found the story incredibly funny and playful – it felt like sharing a fun secret. I also see the book as a real source of hope and support.
Lidia’s unique perspective resonated with many, launching her into a successful writing career. Her popular TED Talk, “The Beauty of Being a Misfit,” gained widespread attention and was even expanded into a book called “The Misfit’s Manifesto.”
Kristen explained to AFP that simply being a woman can be a difficult and even traumatic experience. She noted that this holds true even if a woman hasn’t faced the severe hardships shown in their film, or the particularly challenging journey Lidia went through and ultimately overcame.

The actress, known for Twilight, stated that the book didn’t particularly resonate with her own life story.
She clarified that she didn’t need to do much research, explaining that as a woman who’s lived for 35 years, she’s simply drawing on her own life experience and observations of the world.
I’ve realized something really important: you don’t need to experience direct abuse to understand the pain of having something taken from you, of feeling like you can’t speak up, or of losing faith in your own instincts. It’s taken me years to unravel those feelings and start to heal, and it’s a long process, but so worth it.
This movie deeply connects with people who are feeling vulnerable or emotionally raw – and that’s a lot of us.
Kristen explained to reporters that she didn’t consider playing the role of Lidia herself. Instead, she chose Imogen, whom she praised as ‘the best actress of our generation’.
She enthusiastically described the actress as stunning and emotionally vulnerable in the film. She noted a powerful, captivating presence – a kind of confident sensuality – despite the actress having a smaller bust, and highlighted her striking blue eyes and long hair.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always said it’s about finding that inner strength, and Kristen beautifully described the vibe of her new film as this incredibly raw, pulsing energy – like a ‘pink muscle throbbing.’ Her co-star, Imogen, really captured that, portraying Lidia’s journey of rebuilding her life after hardship. It’s a fierce, sometimes messy, but ultimately hopeful story about finding joy and happiness again, and Imogen truly embodied that struggle and triumph.

Kristen explained to the Cannes Festival’s video channel that pain and pleasure are closely linked, almost indistinguishable from one another.
She explained that Lidia’s book explores how art can help people heal after experiencing physical trauma – specifically, the feelings of violation, loss, and the destruction of personal desire. She noted this is a particularly common experience for women.
Kristen explained that Lidia realized the key to reclaiming what you truly want is to personalize it and find new uses for things you’ve been given, ultimately making them your own.
She added: I’m not being dramatic, but as women we are walking secrets.’
