Because internet access wasn’t readily available then, she had to go to an internet café to figure out why people were so upset. She was surprised to find an online thread filled with negative comments.

During an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Katee Sackhoff shared a disheartening experience from the San Diego Comic-Con launch of Battlestar Galactica. She explained that she was booed by the audience while on stage in Hall H.

She remembered going to an internet café for the first time to see what people were saying about her show. Back then, the internet was very new – you had to pay to use it at places like cafés. Someone told her there was negative talk about the show on online message boards, and she was curious. She logged on and was shocked by the amount of criticism she found in one particular online thread.

She later went to Comic Con, but some people booed her, which bothered her. “It definitely upset me, but thankfully, there was enough support for the show that I didn’t dwell on it,” she said. Sackhoff explained that while those boos might be more difficult to handle now, she benefited from “the blissful ignorance of youth” at the time.

Initially, she didn’t expect the show to be a hit, so she didn’t worry too much about the negative reactions. Even though the audience booed, she was thrilled to be at Hall H. Over time, the criticism died down, and fans actually began to enjoy the show and her character. Later, she went to fan conventions and received a lot of positive support. As she recalled, people would tell her, ‘I went into it not wanting to like it, but I ended up loving it.’
