After a strong debut, “It: Welcome to Derry” is coming back sooner than anticipated. This new installment, a prequel to the “It” films, explores the beginnings of the evil that plagues Derry, Maine, and reveals fresh, terrifying events unfolding beneath the town.
It: Welcome to Derry Episode 2 to release much earlier for Halloween
HBO Max is releasing the second episode of its new series, Welcome to Derry, ahead of schedule as a special treat for Halloween.
The first episode will be available on HBO Max starting Friday, October 31st, at midnight Pacific Time / 3:00 a.m. Eastern Time. It will also air on HBO on Sunday, November 2nd, at 9:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific Time. This early release is a special one-time event for the holiday. After that, new episodes of the eight-episode season will premiere every Sunday, with the final episode airing on December 14th.
As a huge fan of Stephen King’s It, I’m really excited about this new series! It’s being developed by the team behind the movies – Andy and Barbara Muschietti, along with Jason Fuchs – and it actually expands on the story we’ve already seen in the films. What’s even cooler is that Andy Muschietti is directing several episodes himself! It’s an HBO and Warner Bros. Television production, so you know it’s going to look amazing.
The film stars Jovan Adepo, Taylour Paige, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Blake Cameron James, Arian S. Cartaya, Amanda Christine, Matilda Lawler, Clara Stack, Madeleine Stowe, Rudy Mancuso, and Bill Skarsgård, returning as Pennywise.
Warner Bros. Discovery’s upcoming series, ‘It: Welcome to Derry,’ will delve into the dark history of the town and the evil that has plagued it for generations. Andy and Barbara Muschietti, along with Jason Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, David Coatsworth, Bill Skarsgård, Shelley Meals, Roy Lee, and Dan Lin, are executive producers on the project. Jason Fuchs wrote the first episode and will co-run the series alongside Brad Caleb Kane.
The first episode took viewers back to Derry in 1962, a period marked by fear and bias, and concluded with the tragic deaths of Teddy, Phil, and Susie caused by the monster. The second episode was released early, timed with Halloween, to build excitement for the story’s escalating horror.
The second episode of “It: Welcome to Derry” will be available on HBO Max starting at 12 a.m. Pacific Time on October 31st, just in time for Halloween. It will also air on HBO on November 2nd.
