Star Wars Officially Unveils The Mandalorian’s New Sidekick (Sorry, Grogu)

Pedro Pascal’s character, the Mandalorian, will team up with a new companion in the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, scheduled for release in 2026. This film will bring the popular Disney+ series to the big screen, following the bounty hunter and Grogu on a large-scale space adventure. Directed by Jon Favreau, the movie promises to introduce both recognizable faces and brand new characters along the way.

A familiar face from the original Clone Wars is returning in the new Mandalorian movie: Rotta the Hutt. This time, the character will be played by Jeremy Allen White, known for his role in The Bear. It appears White may have accidentally revealed some information about his Star Wars character before the movie’s release.

On The Graham Norton Show, Warwick White revealed that his adult son, who plays Jabba the Hutt’s offspring, will spend much of the new movie alongside Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin. They’ll be seen working together throughout the film.

I’m so excited! It looks like White, the newest member of the Hutt family, is going to be traveling with Mando for a while in the movie. That means we’ll have another awesome sidekick alongside Grogu, and I can’t wait to see them team up!

Okay, so we don’t know a ton about the plot yet, but the first trailer dropped and it looks AMAZING! I’m seriously hyped because it showed what seemed like a huge gladiator battle, and it definitely featured Rotta the Hutt, played by White. It’s going to be epic!

The character, son of a Tatooine crime lord and destined to lead the Hutt crime syndicate, has been called ‘powerful’ or ‘formidable.’ He was last seen as a baby in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, where he was kidnapped by the villain Asajj Ventress.

A movie continuing the story of The Mandalorian and Grogu will arrive in theaters on May 22, 2026. Jon Favreau, who co-created The Mandalorian and directed films like Iron Man and Elf, is directing. The film will follow Din Djarin (played by Pedro Pascal) and Grogu on a new adventure after three seasons of the series on Disney+.

How Will Rotta the Hutt Factor into The Mandalorian & Grogu

It’s now confirmed that Jeremy Allen White’s character, Rotta the Hutt, will be important in Jon Favreau’s upcoming 2026 Mandalorian movie. However, it’s still unknown exactly what role Rotta will play in the story, especially since he’s now set to join Din Djarin’s group for a while.

So far, the only things we know about the new movie are that The Mandalorian and Grogu will be involved in exciting adventures, including battles against leftover Imperial AT-ATs and participation in a gladiator-style fight. That’s not much information to work with, though.

There’s been talk that the next movie might focus on Din Djarin pulling off a huge heist, possibly targeting the main vault of the Hutt Syndicate. If so, it’s possible Rotta is the one who came up with the plan.

Following his father’s death in Return of the Jedi, it’s possible another Hutt family member rose to power, effectively sidelining Rotta and his relatives from the criminal organization’s leadership.

The film might show him trying to rebuild his family’s reputation by robbing the Hutt’s treasure and taking over their criminal organization with the help of Mando.
