The Worlds 2025 group stage draws resulted in some teams having a clear path to the Knockout stage, while others were left facing incredibly difficult challenges – some with a sense of resigned acceptance.
The first stage of the 2025 League of Legends World Championship had a straightforward path to the knockout rounds for some teams. Unfortunately, early surprises at Worlds 2025 made things very difficult for others right from the beginning. Here’s a look at which teams benefited from favorable matchups and which faced an uphill battle in the Swiss Stage.
Best Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage draws
The western teams still put up a good fight, though.
KT Rolster

KT Rolster, the third seed from the LCK, was already expected to perform well at Worlds. They got lucky with their initial matchups, facing Movistar KOI and Team Secret Whales early on, which made their path to success easier.
KT Rolster’s biggest hurdle was Top Esports, but they defeated them convincingly with a 2-0 sweep, securing their spot in the Knockout Stage. With strong play and a bit of fortune, KT Rolster finished the Swiss Stage of Worlds 2025 as the only team with a perfect win record.
T1

Reigning world champions T1 had a relatively easy path through the Swiss Stage. Their toughest matchup was against their Korean rivals, Gen.G Esports. Surprisingly, CTBC Flying Oyster also managed to win a game against T1. Aside from those two teams, T1’s opponents were all from Western regions – FlyQuest, 100 Thieves, and Movistar KOI.
Interestingly, T1 didn’t play against any teams from the LPL during the Swiss Stage. Their quarterfinal match against Anyone’s Legend will be their first opportunity to compete against a Chinese team.
FlyQuest

FlyQuest, starting as the first seed, faced all three teams from the LCP region. They won against Vivo Keyd Stars and Team Secret Whales, but lost in a crucial match against CTBC Flying Oyster. Their challenge didn’t stop there, as they were also matched up against powerhouses T1 and G2 Esports.
While they easily won two games, losing the series to CTBC Flying Oyster meant no players from their region would advance to the next stage of the tournament. On the bright side, they did get to compete against the top teams from both their region and the European league.
Bilibili Gaming

Both FlyQuest and BLG benefited from some fortunate breaks, but neither team could secure the victory when it mattered most.
BLG entered the tournament as the top-ranked team from the LPL and was expected to be a strong contender. Despite being placed in a group with 100 Thieves, Fnatic, G2 Esports, and Vivo Keyd Stars, many believed they could win at least three of their matches. However, they unfortunately lost to both 100 Thieves and G2 Esports.
At the final hurdle, BLG was teamkilled by Top Esports in the 2-2 match.

Anyone’s Legend

Despite a perfect 3-0 record in the Swiss Stage, Anyone’s Legend, the second seed from the LPL, faced a tough challenge. They had difficult matches against strong Korean teams, Hanwha Life Esports and Gen.G. Now, they’ll face another LCK powerhouse, T1, in the quarterfinals, making it their third Korean opponent in the tournament.
There’s only one LCK team we haven’t played yet – KT Rolster. Luckily, we’re on different sides of the tournament bracket, so if we both keep winning, we’ll only face them in the Grand Final. That’s a good thing, honestly – saves us from having to play them earlier!
100 Thieves

100 Thieves faced a tough challenge at Worlds 2025. While their surprising win against Bilibili Gaming early on was a positive, their overall journey involved consistently playing against strong teams from the Korean (LCK) and Chinese (LPL) leagues.
After BLG, they had to face Top Esports, then Hanwha Life Esports, then T1.
PSG Talon

Going into Worlds 2025, everyone already had LCP as a longshot, being the third seed and all. But man, our draw was brutal! We had to face Gen.G and HLE one after the other – seriously tough opponents. We thought we might have a chance against VKS in the early stages, but we just couldn’t pull it off and ended up going 0-2, meaning we were eliminated. It was a rough tournament, honestly.
Movistar KOI

MKOI was one of three teams representing the LEC region, and they managed to reach the round of 16 at the tournament. While facing T1 was a tough match, MKOI’s biggest challenge wasn’t strong opponents in general—it was having to play against the other two LEC teams, G2 and Fnatic. Ironically, they were even responsible for eliminating Fnatic from contention.
They initially faced KT Rolster, but this was quickly overshadowed by a decisive victory over Team Secret Whales.
