Shane Filan had an embarrassing moment on Friday night when he forgot the words to Westlife’s new song, Chariot.
Ronan Keating, age 46, sang with his Westlife bandmates Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne on the Irish talk show, The Late Late Show. Mark Feehily was not present during the performance.
I was watching them perform their new song, ‘Chariot,’ from the ’25’ album, and it was so real when Shane actually forgot some of the lyrics! You could see him quickly trying to remember them and make it up as he went along. It was a totally human moment, and honestly, it made the performance even better.
Although the mistake seemed to go unnoticed by viewers, the host, Patrick Kielty, mentioned it during the subsequent interview.
He quipped: ‘You also surprised the two boys tonight with your new single!’
Shane playfully called it his ‘new version’ and explained that during the first performance of ‘Chariot,’ he accidentally sang the wrong lyrics in the second verse.

‘I actually made up a line tonight. I’m going to blame Mark on it cuz it’s Mark’s verse, but yeah.
I was reading the lines, trying to remember a specific part, but it just wouldn’t come to me. In those moments, you have to think on your feet and improvise. I knew what was supposed to happen next, so it was still enjoyable.
You can still hear Mark singing on Westlife’s new song, but unfortunately, he won’t be able to perform at their upcoming concerts in London or on their 25th anniversary tour due to health problems.
This week, Shane shared some good news with fans about Mark: although Mark can’t come on tour, as he previously said, he was still able to contribute to their new song, which was a priority for him.
He’s still with the band and sounds fantastic on our new music. We’ve recorded four new songs and plan to release an album shortly after Christmas.
This album is a collection of popular songs, plus four brand new tracks. The latest single, releasing next Friday, is a really energetic and positive song, and we’re thrilled to have the artist featured on it.
Westlife revealed they’re going on tour this week, sparking excitement among fans after a short video was posted to Instagram on Thursday.
The set included a replica of an airport departures board, the kind that displays flight times, destinations, and gate numbers. This was a reference to the music video for their 2000 song, “My Love,” which showed the band members stuck at an airport.

The teaser also includes a reference to their second album, Coast To Coast, with the phrase ‘Coast To Coast Airlines’ appearing on the shutterboard. The tour dates are shown briefly, flickering on the screen.
Westlife celebrated 25 years as a group, saying it feels like their journey is just beginning.
As someone who’s seen a lot of artists connect with their audiences, let me tell you, the love we’ve been getting from you all has been incredible! It truly means the world, and honestly, it’s fueling everything we’re doing right now. That’s why we’re so excited to announce a world tour, and to share a brand new album with you all. It feels like the perfect way to celebrate this next chapter together, and we can’t wait to see you on the road!
Westlife became famous in 1998, starting out in Dublin with a lineup that originally included Brian. He later departed from the group in 2004.
Fans worldwide were devastated when the group announced they would split up in 2012, with each member later pursuing their own individual careers.
The group made a very successful comeback in 2018 with the single “Hello My Love,” and they followed it up by announcing The Twenty Tour for 2019.
In June, Westlife announced that Mark would be unable to join them for their upcoming performances. They shared the news in a detailed message, beginning with a heartfelt greeting to their fans: ‘We want to let you know about something important…’
Oh my gosh, I can’t believe it! They just announced they’re celebrating their 25th anniversary! Twenty-five years! It feels like yesterday I was hearing about their very first gig – February 9th, 2001, at the Newcastle Arena. I was probably just a little kid then, and honestly, who could have imagined they’d still be going strong all this time? It’s incredible!
I’m thrilled to share that we’ve got a ton of exciting things in the works! Get ready for new music, a full album, and some really special live shows. And honestly, that’s just the beginning – we have so many more surprises planned that I can’t wait to reveal as we go!

We’re sorry to say that Mark won’t be able to celebrate with us right now. We hope he’ll be back with us on stage when he’s feeling better. He sends his best wishes and positive thoughts to everyone.
We four are amazed it’s been 25 years! We never imagined we’d receive so much continued love and support from you all over the world.
We’re thrilled to share this special milestone with all of you and look forward to celebrating with you! Wishing everyone a happy 25th anniversary! With love, Kian, Mark, Nicky & Shane.
Just days before their first American tour, Mark revealed he was taking a break from the Irish boyband.
The singer left the band to focus on getting better after a serious infection, sepsis, and a period of illness.
