Now is an exciting time for vampire fans! The show that started the popular Immortal Universe is returning soon with new episodes.
Following the successful 1994 film starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, based on a novel from The Vampire Chronicles, the story was reimagined as a television series in 2022. The show was critically acclaimed and launched the ‘Immortal Universe’ franchise. Director Jane Wu recently announced on Instagram that filming for Season 3 has just finished.
Jane Wu, the director of Season 3, Episode 6, announced on Instagram that filming had finished. She simply wrote, “And that’s a wrap,” along with hashtags related to the show. The team also shared that Earle Dresner was the cinematographer, and he previously worked on Episodes 6 and 7 of Season 2.
Mark Johnson, the executive producer in charge of the Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe adaptations, announced on October 21st in New York that filming for The Vampire Lestat would be completed on October 23rd.
Filming for Season 3 started on June 20th, according to an announcement made on social media earlier this summer. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, Jacob Anderson hinted at San Diego Comic-Con that we can expect the new season in spring 2026.
What Happens in The Vampire Lestat?
Following seasons that covered the first book in Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles, the upcoming third season will adapt the second book, The Vampire Lestat. This means the story will focus on Lestat, showing his journey to become a rock star in the 1980s and exploring his origins as a vampire. The season will also reveal Lestat’s perspective on the events from Interview With the Vampire.
The third season revolves around Lestat, who is upset with how he was depicted in a popular, sensationalized book called Interview With the Vampire. He decides to tell his own story—in true Lestat fashion—by forming a band and embarking on a tour. He’s joined by a group of powerful vampires—Gabrielle, Nicholas, Magnus, and Marius—along with Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed, and some other mysterious figures. Together, they’ll journey through time and space, confronting intense emotions and past traumas. Expect raw, unfiltered storytelling – no digital enhancements or content warnings here.
The cast includes Sheila Atim (known for The Woman King) as Akasha, the original vampire and Queen of the Damned. Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek) will play Larry, while Ryan Kattner (Destroy All Neighbors) is Salamander. Seamus Patterson (Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities) will portray Alex, and Sarah Swire (The Boys) will play TC.
The Vampire Lestat will return in 2026 on AMC and AMC+.
