Ten women to a room, X-rated accessories and hormone replacement therapy: The Golden Bachelor stars reveal what life is REALLY like inside the mansion

The Golden Bachelor premiered to much fanfare this week and viewers are lapping it up.

Barry Myrden, nicknamed ‘Bear,’ is already winning the hearts of over twenty women over the age of fifty, and viewers have only seen two episodes of the show so far.

Throughout the show, the women live together in a luxurious mansion in Elizabeth Bay, a fashionable suburb overlooking Sydney Harbour.

Tresco, a home built between 1867 and 1883, is a classic example of colonial architecture designed by Thomas Rowe and has always been admired for its beauty.

So, just what is life like inside the idyllic mansion?

Living with 19 other women while filming the show was definitely difficult for 56-year-old interior designer Catherine Kirwin.

It can be a bit of a shock at first, especially since you’re accustomed to having your own personal space and bathroom, explained Catherine to Daily Mail.

‘All of a sudden, you’ve got 19 other women you’re sharing a room with.’

Catherine explained that a major difficulty was coordinating the schedules of twenty different groups to work together smoothly.

‘Everyone has their own timetables and their own habits,’ she said.

It took some getting used to, but once we accepted that things weren’t going to change for a while, we adapted well.

Honestly, I was really surprised by the sleeping situation! Catherine mentioned she, and I agree, expected a bit more privacy when it came to where we were sleeping. It wasn’t quite what we anticipated.

‘I wasn’t expecting the 10 women in one room situation,’ she said.

‘I mean, they’re pretty large rooms, but I wasn’t expecting that.’

Catherine was surprised by where she was supposed to sleep at first, but she soon discovered one thing that made it much better.

I used noise-cancelling headphones because my partner tends to be a loud sleeper, and they were a lifesaver.

During preparations for emergencies on The Golden Bachelor, contestant Bianca Dye chose a rather playful item.

The 51-year-old radio personality admitted she smuggled a vibrator into the venue, but had to conceal it by wrapping it in several layers of clothing to avoid detection during the bag check.

She was surprised to learn she wasn’t the only one trying to sneak the adult item into the house.

I noticed the other girls admitted they’d done it too, and I quickly said, “Wait a minute. We share a room, so no one’s going to be using any electric razors – we’re becoming intimate, but we’re setting boundaries.”

Bianca explained that many women over 50 still have a healthy sex drive and aren’t afraid to talk about it, emphasizing that age doesn’t mean losing interest in intimacy.

She explained that appearing on a reality show as someone over 50 requires a specific and unique set of things.

‘My bedside table in the old days was like a bottle of lube and some Chapstick,’ she said.

Being on The Golden Bachelor with women going through perimenopause meant I needed to be fully prepared. I brought everything – my hormone therapy, earplugs, a mouthguard, lavender oil, an eye mask, and even a special pillow for support!

It was hilarious seeing everyone unpack all the essentials – things like magnesium tablets, believe it or not!

Bianca was most surprised by how different the other nineteen women were, all competing for Bear’s attention – especially Elizete, who was fifty-four years old.

She’s completely genuine and kind-hearted, and that makes her really compelling to watch on TV. She’s just unapologetically herself, and it’s a great thing.

Even though Bianca admits to enjoying being nude herself, she was still surprised by how openly Elizete displayed her body.

I practice nudism and felt comfortable being unclothed, even leaving doors open in the house. I would walk around and shower nude without worrying about who might see me.

Bianca recalled walking into the bathroom one day and finding Elizete casually shaving her pubic hair while sitting on the shower floor, seemingly unconcerned with anyone seeing her. Bianca laughed as she remembered the moment.

‘She’s like: “It’s fine, it’s okay, you clean your teeth, Bianca.”

That’s just one of the things I love about her—she’s like a sister to me. Honestly, the best part of being on the show is meeting people like her. She’s a bit wild, but it’s a really good thing!

Although the women formed close bonds with each other while living in the mansion, they ultimately all compete for the same goal: winning Bear’s heart.

So, just what did they think of their potential beau on first impressions?

‘Oh, he’s definitely my type,’ Bianca cooed.

He’s incredibly charismatic and they made a great choice. He’s tall, handsome, and has an intriguing air about him, which I find very attractive. He’s subtly reserved, not stand-offish, but in a way that’s appealing. There’s something undeniably alluring about a man who isn’t immediately forthcoming. He’s full of energy and vitality.

Catherine concurred with Bianca’s assessment.

She said she was charmed by his height and kind nature. He had silver hair, a beard, and a wonderful smile, she added.

‘That’s the first thing I noticed about him. As I got closer to him, I realised that he had really, really kind eyes,’ Catherine added.

‘I really, really like that about him.’
