After almost four years since its debut, a second season of the Marvel show Hawkeye is becoming increasingly probable, thanks to a recent update from Jeremy Renner. Earlier this year, Renner, who plays Clint Barton, publicly stated he declined to reprise his role for season 2 over a disagreement about salary. However, it appears he and Marvel Studios have reached a resolution and are now proceeding with plans for a new season.
I was so excited to hear Jeremy Renner talking about Hawkeye season 2 on the Bingeworthy podcast! He said they’re still trying to make it happen, and he’s hoping to be strong enough to film it. He didn’t officially confirm it’s definitely happening, but he sounded really optimistic and said it’s going to be great if they can pull it off. Fingers crossed we get more Kate Bishop and Clint Barton soon!
The actor then discussed the first season of Hawkeye and explained why Clint Barton is such an interesting character.
I particularly liked working on the series format. It felt more personal and really focused on the importance of family, which is central to Clint Barton’s character. I believe Clint’s strength isn’t a traditional superpower—he’s a hero without powers. His true strength lies in his resilience, loyalty, and devotion to family. That’s what makes his fights meaningful—he’s fighting for love and those close to him. It was wonderful to explore that side of him, and filming in New York with the Christmas backdrop was a real bonus.
I’m really hoping for a second season of Hawkeye, and it sounds like it might actually happen! While Marvel hasn’t officially said anything yet, Jeremy Renner has hinted that it’s more likely now than it used to be, which is incredibly exciting to me as a fan.
What’s Going On With Hawkeye Season 2?

When Disney+ first started offering Marvel shows, the first season of Hawkeye was announced. Initially, Marvel Studios mostly created these shows as single, self-contained stories, with only a few planned to continue beyond one season. But the story introduced in Hawkeye felt like it could be expanded, and fans have been hoping for a second season ever since the first one ended.
I’ve been hoping for a second season of Hawkeye ever since I first watched it! It was great to see Marvel move towards longer-form TV, and this show really felt like it had potential. I especially loved how they introduced Kate Bishop – Hailee Steinfeld was fantastic as this young hero who just idolizes Clint Barton. Seeing their reluctant mentor-mentee relationship develop was a highlight. Honestly, both Kate and Clint are characters I really enjoy, and I’m eager to see what happens with them next, since we haven’t gotten much of their story since that first season.
Jeremy Renner seems enthusiastic about a second season of Hawkeye, but it’s unclear if Hailee Steinfeld will return. She might move on to a larger role in upcoming Avengers movies like Doomsday or Secret Wars. Alternatively, her character, Kate Bishop, could join a potential Young Avengers project, which Marvel has hinted at since Hawkeye first aired.
How Hawkeye Season 2 Could Fit Into The MCU’s Plan

Whether or not Hawkeye gets a second season might not depend on what’s happening in the larger Marvel movies. As Jeremy Renner explains, his character, Clint Barton, doesn’t have superpowers, so he might not be a natural fit for a team-up against someone like Doctor Doom. This means Hawkeye could continue as its own separate story within the MCU, and a second season could potentially happen whenever the creators are ready.
It would be fantastic to see Hawkeye play a bigger role in the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially considering Clint Barton is one of the original Avengers. Hopefully, Marvel finds a way to keep Jeremy Renner’s character involved in future Avengers films and bring him back for another season of Hawkeye. There’s still a lot of story to tell with this character, and whether it’s in Hawkeye season 2 or another project, fans are hoping Marvel makes it happen.
