The new series, Talamasca: The Secret Order, has received positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s the third installment in AMC’s ‘Immortal Universe,’ a world built on the books by Anne Rice. This universe began with Interview with the Vampire in 2022 and continued with Mayfair Witches in 2023. Talamasca premiered on AMC on October 19th.
Critics have given the new show Talamasca: The Secret Order a score of 64% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, this is based on only 11 reviews so far, meaning the score could change as more reviews come in. An audience score isn’t available yet, but it should be added soon now that the first episode has aired. You can find a comparison of its score to other shows in the Immortal Universe below.

Created by John Lee Hancock and inspired by The Vampire Chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair Witches, Talamasca: The Secret Order follows Guy Anatole, a new law school graduate. He’s hired by the Talamasca – a hidden group that tracks supernatural events – to investigate their London headquarters. His mission: find a suspected traitor who may be working to destroy the organization.
The series stars Nicholas Denton as Guy Anatole, alongside Céline Buckens, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, William Fichtner, and Elizabeth McGovern. Jason Schwartzman and Eric Bogosian reprise his role as Daniel Molloy, previously seen in season 2 of Interview with the Vampire, as special guest stars.
According to Sarah Moran’s review in ScreenRant, the new supernatural spy thriller Talamasca: The Secret Order is decent, but greatly benefits from William Fichtner’s performance as a standout vampire. Without him, the review suggests, the story would fall flat.
While Talamasca: The Secret Order has a respectable 64% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, reviews are mixed. Many critics highlight strong performances from Nicholas Denton and William Fichtner, and appreciate how the show bravely expands the world of Anne Rice’s stories into a spy-thriller genre. However, some reviewers find the series awkward, inconsistent, and lacking the atmosphere and emotional impact of classics like Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches.
Critics are divided on Talamasca: The Secret Order. Some believe it effectively connects the two shows through its world-building, while others find it a dull, formulaic crime show that doesn’t deliver on its initially spooky and mysterious potential.
