The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always adding new movies and shows, both in theaters and on Disney+. While the quality has varied since the big Avengers: Endgame movie, the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine is already a huge hit, breaking records before it’s even released. The director recently shared some fun behind-the-scenes photos for Ryan Reynolds‘ birthday, and I especially enjoyed seeing how they made the movie.
It was Ryan Reynolds’ 49th birthday yesterday, and he’s been receiving lots of well wishes online. His close friend and frequent director, Shawn Levy, posted a message on Instagram with behind-the-scenes photos of them working on the upcoming movie Deadpool & Wolverine. You can see the post below.

Isn’t that adorable? It’s clear Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy have a great working relationship and a lot of affection for each other, having collaborated on films like Free Guy, The Adam Project, and, most recently, Deadpool 3. The photos they’ve shared show them having fun on the set of the latest movie – you can see them laughing at the TVA headquarters, and a glimpse of Reynolds as a battle-worn Deadpool. I love getting behind-the-scenes looks like this – don’t you?
Fans are loving the playful rivalry between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, and director Shawn Levy is clearly a fan of both, as shown in a recent post to his 795,000 Instagram followers. The post even includes a photo featuring both Reynolds and Jackman, bringing the iconic trio together.

Wow, after how huge Deadpool & Wolverine was, everyone’s already asking about Deadpool 4! Ryan Reynolds has said they’re not rushing into planning it right away, but honestly, I think another Deadpool movie is inevitable. It’s just a question of timing. And, like a lot of fans, I’m really hoping we see Wade Wilson and Logan popping up in future Marvel team-up movies, maybe even Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars. That would be amazing!
Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy first connected through Hugh Jackman and have been close collaborators ever since. They’re not only working partners, but also good friends and neighbors in New York City. It’s safe to assume Shawn Levy has plenty of funny photos of Ryan that didn’t make it onto his birthday post!
Although another movie from Reynolds and Levy likely plans to happen, Levy is currently filming Star Wars: Starfighter, marking the franchise’s first theatrical release since The Rise of Skywalker. Reports also suggest Reynolds has some inside knowledge about Starfighter’s production.
You can now watch Deadpool & Wolverine on Disney+. Starfighter is scheduled to hit theaters on May 28, 2027. Ryan Reynolds, who recently celebrated his birthday, is involved in several future films, with releases planned for 2026 and beyond.
