I’ve moved to Mayfair, says £650million former prime minister Rishi Sunak

Losing the job of prime minister and having to leave Downing Street is usually difficult, but Rishi Sunak has found a bit of a silver lining.

The former Conservative leader tells me that he has risen up the Monopoly board of London property.

Rishi Sunak, 45, and his wife, Akshata – the daughter of Indian tech billionaire and Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy – have moved to Mayfair together.

The couple have two daughters who go to school in the capital.

At the book launch for Piers Morgan’s ‘Woke Is Dead’, Rishi Sunak didn’t reveal where his family is moving, but properties in the Mayfair area where they’re likely to be looking typically cost between £8 million and £25 million for a townhouse, or around £4 million for a flat.

Before moving to their current home, the couple lived in a smaller house in Kensington, west London. They purchased it in 2010, a year after getting married, for around £4.5 million.

It’s now worth an estimated £6.6million.

Referring to the Kensington area, he tells me, jokingly: ‘I was squatting there last year a bit.’

The Member of Parliament and his wife, both 45, purchased a £1.5 million home in his North Yorkshire constituency, which covers Richmond and Northallerton, back in 2010.

Their beautiful home, a historic building on the lake, includes a swimming pool, gym, and tennis court. They also own a vacation home in Santa Monica, California, valued at around £5 million.

Thanks to his wife’s wealth, Rishi Sunak is Britain’s richest former prime minister, with a fortune estimated at over £650 million. By comparison, Tony and Cherie Blair are estimated to be worth around £60 million.

Although Rishi Sunak served as Prime Minister for under two years, his family resided in the apartment above 10 Downing Street – a place they were already familiar with from his time as Chancellor under Boris Johnson.

Rishi says he’s happy with life after leaving office. He cheerfully explained that he now has more time for things he enjoys, like attending events and parties.

Dame Judi ‘still feels the nerves’

Even though Dame Judi Dench is a famous and acclaimed actress, her friend Gyles Brandreth says she still gets very nervous before going on stage or filming.

He’s currently performing in a show with Judi Dench called ‘I Remember It Well,’ and surprisingly, she actually gets more nervous than he does.

‘She shakes before going on stage.’

Hugh spills beans about vegan Heidi

Heidi Kadlecova is known as a ‘vegan influencer’ due to her self-promotional and morally righteous posts on social media, where she often highlights her vegan lifestyle.

However, her relationship with actor Hugh Bonneville, known for his role in Downton Abbey, has unfortunately made her a target for accusations of being a hypocrite.

For he has revealed Heidi’s not a vegan at all but a keen consumer of fish and dairy products.

The 61-year-old actor, who split from his wife, Lulu, in 2023, clarified that she is not vegan and doesn’t have a large social media following.

According to Bonneville, Heidi is very understanding of others, but also strongly supports everyone’s right to choose their own diet, even if she doesn’t share it – she herself only eats fish and vegetarian meals.

She’s shared strong opinions about veganism before, once stating that it’s the only ethical choice. She also challenged people to consider if their lifestyle reflects compassion or apathy.

Royal horse trainer preserves St Mary’s legacy

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always been fascinated by the origins of cultural touchstones. It’s fun to learn that the famously chaotic St Trinian’s school – you know, the one from the cartoons and movies created by Ronald Searle – was actually inspired by a real place with a bit of a wild reputation! It’s amazing how real life can spark such creative ideas.

As a lifelong believer in honoring roots, I was so touched to learn how royal horse trainer Nicky Henderson is keeping the spirit of St Mary’s Wantage alive. The school holds a special place in his family’s history – all three of his daughters, Sarah, Tessa, and Camilla, were educated there! He’s beautifully acknowledged that connection by naming one of his fillies after the school, even though its doors are now closed. It’s a lovely way to remember a place that clearly meant so much to his family.

Okay, so Sarah just told me about this amazing thing! She’s basically building a whole group – she calls them ‘SMOGS,’ which is short for ex-St Mary’s girls – and it’s already got around 75 members! She’s hoping to get it up to 100, and honestly, I’m obsessed with the idea. It’s so cool that she’s bringing everyone together like this, and I can’t wait to see it grow!

St Mary’s boasts fashion arbiters Susannah Constantine and Daphne Guinness among its alumnae.

Piers books crypt for his party

Four years after leaving Good Morning Britain in a surprising exit, Piers Morgan met up again with his former co-host, Susanna Reid, at a launch event for his new book, “Woke Is Dead.” The event was held in a fittingly unusual location: a crypt.

Piers jokingly asked his audience, gathered near St Martin-in-the-Fields church in London, ‘Who will be the first to enter the ‘memorial’ for ‘Woke Is Dead’?’

It’s encouraging to see so many people openly coming here, which I believe is a positive step in overcoming the divisive influence of what I’ve called the “Woke Mind Virus.”

The event was attended by a number of well-known faces, including Dame Joan Collins, Emily Maitlis, Jamie Redknapp, and BBC personalities Amol Rajan and Sophie Raworth.

Sean: I’m an old has Bean

Sean Bean, known for his action roles over many years, admits he’s starting to feel too old to convincingly perform fight scenes.

The Yorkshire actor, who will soon be playing the Sheriff of Nottingham in the new Robin Hood series, jokes, ‘It seems like every character I play ends up in a big fight!’

Honestly, seeing Sir Rowan Bean at 66 still throwing himself into roles is amazing! He was talking about his newest part, and he said riding horses is just pure fun for him – he really loves it! But the fight scenes? He admitted they’re tough, really physically demanding and exhausting. It’s so cool to see him still giving it his all, even at his age!

I really enjoyed the fight choreography in Robin Hood. The battles were very smooth and extended, but I often find myself needing to shorten them when revisiting the footage now.

Portas swears off buying new clothes

Retail expert Mary Portas has largely stopped buying new clothes, strongly criticizing the fast fashion industry as harmful and unethical.

The TV star, 65, says: ‘I don’t really buy new any more – I always go for second-hand.’

Speaking at the Wimbledon Book Festival in London, Portas adds that she doesn’t look at labels.

‘It’s not about the brand, it’s about the fact something’s already been worn.

‘The most important thing is that we’re recycling.’

Frank Auerbach’s £38million fortune

He was orphaned when his parents died in the Holocaust, soon after they’d sent him to Britain.

So began a new life during which Frank Auerbach would paint up to 18 hours a day.

For years the artist had scant recognition.

Almost a year after his death at age 93, legal documents show that actor Bernard Hill left behind a fortune of £38 million, reflecting the success he achieved later in life.

Every penny goes to his son, documentary maker Jake.
