Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni court battle: Lawyers for actress allege high-tech smear campaign that included auto-deleting messages

The lawsuit between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni now includes accusations that Baldoni secretly used technology to damage Lively’s reputation while they worked together on the film, It Ends With Us.

According to a recent court document reviewed by Daily Mail, lawyers for 38-year-old Lively allege that Baldoni and his team—including attorneys, agents, and public relations staff—used various online methods to hide important evidence during the legal case.

According to court filings obtained by Daily Mail, Lively’s lawyers claim the defendants have consistently obstructed the document-gathering process by either withholding relevant materials or inappropriately claiming attorney-client privilege to keep them hidden.

Lively’s lawyers claim Baldoni’s team has repeatedly tried to obstruct the legal process, leading to at least twelve formal requests for information and evidence.

According to Deadline, a former colleague of Baldoni’s at the PR firm Jonesworks LLC – which is also involved in the legal case – made comparable claims in a court filing on Wednesday.

Daily Mail has reached out to reps for Lively and Baldoni for further comment on the story.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this case closely, and it’s getting quite complex. Blake Lively’s legal team has revealed in court documents that Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, actor Ryan Reynolds, appears to be involved. They allege that Swift coordinated with people at Wayfarer Studios and public relations pros – names like Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel – to use things like disappearing message apps and other digital tools. It sounds like they were trying to cover their tracks, and it’s all coming out now.

According to court documents, Baldoni and his colleagues allegedly teamed up to damage the actress’s reputation by using various digital tools, including the messaging app Signal, voice recordings, and other software.

According to Lively’s legal team, Baldoni and his colleagues acted as if they anticipated a lawsuit and tried to hide information that could harm their position if it became public.

According to legal documents reviewed by Deadline, details about Signal and related projects came from interviews with former Nathan employees, specifically Katherine Case and Breanna Butler.

Oh my god, can you believe it? Blake Lively, like, the Serena van der Woodsen, accused Justin Baldoni of harassment on the set of ‘It Ends with Us’! I was SO excited for that movie, and it totally blew up when it came out last August. But now this… it’s just awful. He’s completely denied it, of course, but still… it’s heartbreaking. I just want to know what really happened!

The movie made $148 million in the US and $350 million worldwide. However, positive feelings towards it have been overshadowed by recent accusations from members of the cast.

The movie featured Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, Brandon Sklenar, and Kevin McKidd, and was adapted from Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel.

The movie’s story focused on the unhealthy and damaging relationship between Lily Bloom, portrayed by Blake Lively, and Ryle Kincaid, played by Justin Baldoni.

The movie centers on Lily, who escapes a difficult past and starts fresh when she meets a neurosurgeon. However, their connection is complicated as she begins to recognize troubling patterns in his behavior that echo her childhood experiences with her parents.

In December 2024, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment, unfair retaliation, and causing intentional emotional distress.

The actress, known for her role in Gossip Girl, filed a lawsuit claiming Justin Baldoni sexually harassed her, made hurtful comments about her body, and tried to ruin her career by spreading false information.

In her legal complaint, Lively identified several people who worked with Baldoni, such as his production company Wayfarer Studios, the company’s CEO and investor, and publicists Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel.

Initially, Baldoni sought $250 million from The New York Times due to a report they published. He later included this claim in a larger $400 million lawsuit filed in January.

As a longtime fan, I was really surprised to hear about Blake Lively being involved in a lawsuit. Apparently, she, Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist were named in it, referencing a certain report. But thankfully, it was dismissed back in June – a good outcome for everyone involved, as far as I understand!

All parties have denied all of the allegations against them.
