Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil in Marvel projects, has stated he wasn’t involved in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, many Marvel fans are skeptical. Marvel has a history of asking actors to deny rumors about their appearances in MCU films—Andrew Garfield famously claimed he wasn’t in Spider-Man: No Way Home before ultimately appearing in it.
Marvel fans jokingly question any actor who denies appearing in a new project because of Andrew Garfield. He repeatedly claimed he wasn’t in No Way Home, which turned out to be false, so now fans tend to be skeptical of similar denials from other stars in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly when evidence suggests otherwise.
There’s been some speculation about Bryan Cox potentially appearing in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie. He was seen in London while that film was shooting, which sparked rumors, especially since Andrew Garfield was spotted near the No Way Home set during filming. However, Cox has recently and strongly denied being involved in Brand New Day.
While speaking with Brandon Davis from Phase Hero, actor Charlie Cox addressed rumors about his involvement with Spider-Man. He clarified, “Everyone assumes I’m in Spider-Man because I’ve been filming in London, but that’s not true. I’m not involved with Spider-Man. My focus right now is solely on Daredevil.” He also confirmed he won’t be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel fans aren’t convinced by the explanation. One fan, Ian, compared the situation to Andrew Garfield repeatedly denying his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, saying, “Okay, I’ve changed my mind. He’s the new Andrew Garfield.”
A Twitter user, prattweets10, noticed that Cox mentioned Spider-Man out of nowhere, only to immediately say it wasn’t happening. They shared this observation with a picture of Andrew Garfield appearing to surrender with his hands raised.
Another Marvel fan, Amal, directly accused Charlie Cox of lying, stating, “I can spot a liar when I see one.”
User Bennis correctly noted that Andrew and him are definitely friends. When they were beginning their careers, actors like Cox, Garfield, and Robert Pattinson (who played Batman) all lived together in London and have stayed close ever since.
Ultimately, Shane captured the feeling perfectly, saying it reminded them of the Andrew Garfield situation.
It’s currently unconfirmed if actor Charlie Cox will be in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, but many Marvel fans are hopeful. He had a quick appearance in No Way Home, and with both Daredevil and Spider-Man operating in New York City, his inclusion in Brand New Day would fit well.
It’s still uncertain if fan predictions about Daredevil appearing will come true. However, even if he isn’t in the movie, Brand New Day still connects to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe in significant ways. Mark Ruffalo is returning as Hulk, and Jon Bernthal will be playing the Punisher, leading many fans to believe Daredevil might also make an appearance.
Ever since Daredevil and Spider-Man appeared together in No Way Home, fans have been hoping to see them team up again. It’s currently unclear if that will happen in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie. As the release date approaches and trailers are revealed, we’ll likely find out which Marvel heroes will be joining Spider-Man in the new film.
