Get ready, Stranger Things fans! Netflix has just announced that the final episode of the series will be shown in select theaters later this year. There’s been a lot of talk this week about whether the last episode of Stranger Things season 5 would be released in cinemas, but Netflix has now confirmed that it will be.
The final episode of Stranger Things will be shown in over 350 movie theaters across the U.S. and Canada beginning December 31, 2025, at 5:00 PM Pacific Time. This special event coincides with the episode’s worldwide release on Netflix and will continue through January 1, 2026. The Duffer Brothers shared their excitement, saying fans will get a chance to see the finale together on the big screen.
This has been a long-held dream of ours, and we’re incredibly thankful to Ted, Bela, and the entire Netflix team for helping us realize it. Experiencing it on the big screen, with amazing sound and visuals, surrounded by fans, feels like the absolute best way to mark the end of this journey – it’s truly fantastic!
It’s the fall of 1987, and Hawkins is still reeling from the strange Rifts that have opened. Our heroes are determined to find and destroy Vecna, but he’s disappeared, and no one knows where he is or what he’s planning. Things get even harder when the government puts the town under military control and steps up its search for Eleven, forcing her to go into hiding again. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance nears, a sense of dread returns. A final, massive battle is coming – one that will bring a darkness more dangerous than anything they’ve ever encountered. To finally defeat this evil, everyone needs to come together, as a team, for one last stand.
‘Stranger Things’ Fans and Cast Are Worried About the Final Season

Netflix
It’s common for fans to worry that the last season of a popular show won’t be as good as they hoped, and the cast of Stranger Things felt that pressure too, even after filming wrapped. Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, recently told Time magazine he was concerned the show’s ending might be received as negatively as the final season of Game of Thrones was.
To be honest, everyone was pretty anxious going in. After the disappointing final season of Game of Thrones, we were all hoping this show wouldn’t suffer the same fate. But once we started reading the scripts, we realized this was something truly exceptional.
We’re hoping Finn Wolfhard is right – that the final season will be truly amazing. After being a fan favorite for so long, it would be disappointing if Stranger Things didn’t have a powerful and satisfying conclusion. We’ll see how the story ends when the first part of Stranger Things Season 5 premieres on Netflix November 26th.
