The Morning Show season 4 episode 6 ‘If Only’ spoilers follow.
Popular character Stella Bak is leaving The Morning Show after a risky plan publicly failed. As the CEO of UBN, she heavily invested in artificial intelligence, but things went wrong when her boss, Celine, forced her to demonstrate a still-unfinished chatbot.
Stella shared her worries about her job and a secret relationship with Celine’s husband, Miles, with a chatbot right before giving a presentation. Both of these personal issues unexpectedly became public during the presentation itself.

After everything that happened, Stella quit her job and asked Miles to join her in starting over in a new country. However, he didn’t show up at the airport, and she ended up leaving without him.
Despite the possibility of coming back, actress Greta Lee told The Hollywood Reporter that this is a final farewell.

Lee wondered what Stella would do after arriving, guessing she’d head straight to the tiki bar and probably stay for a few weeks. He figured her determined and hardworking nature was just too deeply rooted for her to do anything else.
She’s wondering how to best use this news and what might happen next.
Stella’s departure from the show was a joint decision made with Lee and the producers. The actor explained that the demanding schedule made it increasingly difficult to balance commitments and dedicate the necessary time and energy to the series.

She explained that the writers presented a story that was both happy and sad, and she had a feeling it signaled the end. She added that sometimes it’s simply the right time for a character to move on and conclude their journey.
Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt shared that filming the character’s last scene was a deeply emotional experience, admitting it still makes her tear up when she thinks about it and that saying goodbye to the character was difficult.
