Emmett Scanlan, known for his roles in Kin and MobLand, is joining the cast of the upcoming Netflix series How to Get to Heaven from Belfast. This Irish comedy thriller, which was originally announced over two years ago, centers around a group of friends dealing with the death of someone they grew up with but had lost touch with.
I was so excited to hear who would be playing the main characters! The streamer announced that Roísín Gallagher, who I loved in The Dry, Sinéad Keenan from Unforgotten, and Caoilfhionn Dunne, who was great in Andor, will be playing Saoirse, Robyn, and Dara. I think the casting is perfect!
The cast is growing! Scanlan will play Owen, and Tom Basden (from The Ballad of Wallis Island) will be Seb. Joining them are Ardal O’Hanlon (Death in Paradise) as Seamus, Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones) as Margo, and Josh Finan (The Responder) as Jason.

The cast also includes Bronagh Gallagher (from Brassic), playing Booker; Darragh Hand (from Heartstopper) as Liam; Art Campion (from Derry Girls) as Jim; and Natasha O’Keeffe (from Peaky Blinders) as Greta. You can see new photos of them below.
How to Get to Heaven from Belfast centers around Saoirse, a witty and unpredictable TV writer, Robyn, a stylish mother juggling the demands of three children, and Dara, a reliable but reserved caregiver. The three women have been close friends since childhood.
The story follows three friends, now in their late 30s, who remain incredibly close as they begin the most exciting journey of their lives, according to the description.
The arrival of news about the death of a long-lost friend from their youth triggers a strange and unsettling chain of events at the funeral. This sends the group on a darkly funny and perilous journey across Ireland and further afield, as they each attempt to uncover secrets from their shared past.
The new series, launching in February, tells a story about the bonds of friendship, the power of memory, and navigating life when things don’t go as planned.
Writer Lisa McGee, known for Derry Girls, recently shared that she’s enjoyed creating the characters Saoirse, Robyn, and Dara – three funny, relatable women about to face a huge and exciting challenge. She promises a mystery packed with surprises that will keep viewers hooked and laughing.
How to Get to Heaven from Belfast will premiere on Netflix in February 2026.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can find Ariana & Witches at newsstands and online for only £8.99.
