Suzanne Somers‘ legacy will continue to endure thanks to the power of AI.
Oh my gosh, it’s just… heartbreaking, you know? Suzanne Somers, my absolute idol, passed away last year at 76 after fighting cancer. But Alan, her husband, is amazing. He’s actually brought her back in a way, using technology! It’s like… a piece of her is still here, and I can’t even begin to explain how much that means to me. It’s just… incredible.
An AI replica of the late actress Somers has been created using recordings of her work and interviews. According to The New York Post, this ‘AI twin’ can recall details from her life and career, including her marriage, and even engage in conversations.
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE this! Mr. Hamel, he’s 89 years old, is finally making this dream a reality! Apparently, his wife, bless her heart, was absolutely fascinated by the technology decades ago, and she told him he had to do it. It just breaks my heart that she isn’t here to see it, but he’s doing it for her, and it’s SO inspiring! He told People magazine all about it, and I’m just living for this story!
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been watching the reaction to this news unfold online, and honestly, it’s been pretty intense! People are really drawing parallels to the show Black Mirror – that dark, thought-provoking sci-fi series. I saw one comment that perfectly summed it up: ‘This feels like an episode of Black Mirror,’ and so many others seem to agree. It’s definitely sparked a lot of unsettling comparisons.
‘Makes Black Mirror look like sesame street,’ another remarked.

‘that’s enough twitter for one day,’ another said.
‘Seems kind of creepy,’ another posted.
‘I’m definitely getting Pet Cemetery AI edition vibes,’ one person tweeted.
Hamel was impressed with a demonstration of ‘Suzanne AI Twin’ that he saw at a conference earlier this year.
Let me tell you, I was absolutely stunned! I recently spoke with someone named Suzanne, and after just a few questions, her responses were incredible. Honestly, it blew everyone away. The final result was so realistic – you’d be hard-pressed to tell it apart from the real Suzanne herself. It was truly remarkable!
It’s incredible. After being with my wife, Suzanne, for 55 years, I’m very familiar with her appearance. When I look at her and the AI version side-by-side, I honestly can’t distinguish between them.
To accurately mimic Suzanne Somers, the AI was trained using all 27 of her books and hundreds of interviews. This extensive preparation allows it to answer almost any question as if it were Somers herself, drawing on the information it has learned.
Somers was the brains behind the project after learning about the technology during the 80s.
We’ve known Ray Kurzweil for a long time. Bill Gates once called him the smartest person on Earth, and he really is. We became friends with Ray about 30 years ago, and he shared his predictions with us about the future. It took a long time for those predictions to come true – decades, in fact – but he was certain they would.

Suzanne came up with the idea. She explained that she thought it would be a great way to offer a helpful service to her readers and fans – providing them with the health information they were looking for.
She encouraged us to move forward, and that’s why we did. It makes me happy to have made her happy.
He told The Post that his late wife had said, about 35 to 40 years ago, she’d be happy with an AI version of Suzanne Somers created to represent her.
Realbotix Corp. built the robot, and its creator, Hamel, envisions a future where this AI version of herself could appear on television.
According to The Post, Hamel plans to pitch new episodes of ‘Three’s Company’ – featuring the robot – to the show’s distributor once they’ve finalized its development, he shared with the CEO of AI company Hollo.

He’s also trying to get permission from John Ritter’s estate to create an AI version of the late actor, with the goal of continuing the ‘Three’s Company’ series.
He believes she would have been delighted and approved of the news, and he and his family are all very pleased.
Hamel intends on having the robot be an attraction for fans of the late star.
Once everything is ready, we’ll feature her on SuzanneSomers.com and invite her fans and our customers to connect with her. They’ll be able to chat with her and ask her anything, and she’ll be available around the clock. I think it will be a great experience for everyone.
Somers was married to Hamel for 45 years prior to her passing at the age of 76 in October 2023.
Hamel recently shared his late wife’s final words: she wanted him to move on and find happiness again.

In June, Hamel told People magazine that as Suzanne was nearing the end of her life, she asked him not to be sad or grieve for too long after she passed away. Hamel, who is now dating someone new, shared this memory.
He mentioned he’d never heard the phrase “mope around” before. I asked if she meant I shouldn’t just stay home and feel sorry for myself. She replied that she wanted me to enjoy my life, reminding me that I had a wonderful life, family, and friends, and encouraging me to make the most of it.
He added that throughout their 42-year relationship, they were never apart for even an hour, and this happened naturally, without any deliberate effort.
He described their close connection as something that happened naturally over time. While unusual for most couples, he said it worked well for them, and they hadn’t intentionally created that dynamic.
