Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt take a break from filming to watch Arsenal take on Atletico Madrid

Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, the stars of Ted Lasso, paused filming to attend Arsenal’s 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in London on Tuesday.

The 49-year-old actor seemed cheerful while watching from the audience with his co-star, Brendan, 53. This came just a few weeks after the pair were seen filming their popular Apple TV+ show in Richmond.

Jason looked sharp in a navy suit, completing his look with a flat cap, blue glasses, and a burgundy tie. Brendan, on the other hand, chose a grey waistcoat and a striped shirt.

Arsenal secured a significant Champions League win by thrashing Atletico Madrid 4-0.

The game remained scoreless until Gabriel Magalhaes scored with a header from a free kick, and then Gabriel Martinelli added another goal with a shot that hit the post and went in.

Viktor Gyokeres quickly scored two goals in just four minutes, securing a convincing win for the home team in North London.

This news follows Jason Sudeikis’ recent return to Richmond to film new episodes with the cast of the popular Apple TV+ show, Ted Lasso.

Filming for the new season of the Apple TV show began in the US several weeks ago, and Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and the rest of the cast have now relocated to West London to continue shooting.

Jason and Hannah, the show’s main actors, filmed scenes with Brendan and Brett Goldstein at well-known spots like The Prince’s Head pub and the popular Richmond restaurant, Scott’s.

The fourth season, coming in summer 2026, will see the show’s football manager take on a new challenge: coaching a women’s team in the second division.

Last month, Channing Dungey, head of Warner Bros Television – the company producing the show – told Variety magazine about how filming was going.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe it – they’re actually filming again! There was a point where I honestly didn’t think we’d get another season, I was so worried, but it’s happening! And the best part? A whole new cast! I’m seriously buzzing with excitement to see who they are and what they bring to the show. I can’t wait!

Joining the previously announced cast – including Hannah, Brett, Brendan, Jeremy Swift, and Juno Temple – are Tanya Reynolds, known for her role in Sex Education, and Faye Marsay from Adolescence.

Jude Mack, Abbie Hern, Grant Feely, Rex Hayes, and Aisling Sharkey will also be part of the show.

Filming for the next part of the popular series began last month in Kansas City, where star Jason was born and raised.

After three successful seasons filmed in the UK, Ted Lasso is now shooting in the United States for the first time.

News of the cast being seen together follows a statement from Matt Cherniss, Apple TV+’s development chief, who expressed optimism about the upcoming fourth season of Ted Lasso.

Speaking in July, the creator expressed great anticipation for the fourth season of Ted Lasso, saying they’re just beginning to explore where the story can go. He admitted it’s hard to add anything new to the conversation around the show, but they’re thrilled it’s returning.

Cherniss added that he didn’t want to reveal any details about the show’s future plot, but assured fans who enjoy ‘Ted Lasso’ that they’ll likely love the upcoming season.

Jason announced on the New Heights podcast, hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce, that Ted Lasso would be returning for a fourth season, four months ago.

‘Ted’s coaching a women’s team, so there, that’s it,’ the actor teased.

Jason Sudeikis played Ted Lasso, a football coach from America who became a soccer coach. He led the made-up Premier League team AFC Richmond for the show’s first three seasons.

After Sudeikis shared details about season four, Travis wondered if that meant Coach Lasso would be going back to the United States.

Jason chuckled and said, “You’re asking too much!” then admitted he didn’t have the answer anyway.

Jason added that coming up with a new season was both ‘exciting’ and ‘daunting’.

He explained they were able to share the story they envisioned, and he also praised the team as being wonderful to work with, hinting there’s more to the story than what’s been told.

The former SNL cast member observed that opportunities seemed to appear rapidly after the actors’ and writers’ strike ended in 2023.

People – whether they were airport staff, online contacts, family friends, or others working in the field – kept giving me advice, and I just acknowledged it without really processing it.

In August, Bill Lawrence, one of the show’s creators, hinted at a potential fourth season, explaining that whether or not it happens depends on Jason Sudeikis.

We’d all love to see it happen, but ultimately, we support whatever Jason decides. It’s entirely up to him, and we’ll be happy with his choice,” he explained to Collider.

The show is back after a hugely successful first season, having won a total of 20 Primetime Emmy Awards. Last year, it took home seven awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and a win for Jason Sudeikis as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

Since premiering in 2020, the series has received 61 Primetime Emmy Awards nods.

The film has earned significant recognition from industry guilds, including a Producers Guild Award, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and two Writers Guild Awards. It has also been nominated for five Directors Guild Awards.

The show has been highly acclaimed, winning two Golden Globe Awards, seven Critics’ Choice Television Awards, and three TCA Awards.
