Calling all horror lovers! Get ready for a spooky season with a new streaming platform called BloodStream, from The Horror Collective. It’s aiming to become the ultimate destination for all things horror, offering a vast collection of classic scary movies, delightfully bad monster flicks, and brand new terrifying content. If you’re looking for a dedicated horror streamer, this could be it!
Shudder, the popular horror streaming service, is about to get some competition. A new service called BloodStream is launching, offering a similar ad-free experience for a lower price – just $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year, compared to Shudder’s $8.99 and $89.99. Industry experts predict this price difference will likely shake up the market, and it’s a delightfully spooky rivalry!
As streaming services keep getting more expensive, a new, more affordable option is appealing – especially one focused on horror, with Halloween just around the corner. BloodStream, backed by horror producer Shaked Berenson and his company The Horror Collective, is offering a library of films including titles like The Wailing, Werewolf Game, Hatchet, and the delightfully cheesy Werewolf Bitches from Outer Space. It’s a streamer embracing classic, low-budget horror fun.
Horror Is Back on Top
IFC Films/Shudder
ScreamBox, like Shudder, has been a favorite among horror fans for years. With so many movies available, having another service that features unique and often overlooked titles is definitely a plus.
Horror movies have become incredibly popular since the start of the Covid pandemic, with many low-budget films achieving surprising success through creativity. Movies like Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, ScreamBoat, and Popeye The Slayer Man have saved money by using characters that are free to use, bringing back the feel of classic, ultra-gory slasher films from the late 1980s. These gritty, low-budget horror movies are proving to be a hit with fans.
With the huge popularity of films like Terrifier, and recent successes from companies like Neon and A24 – including LongLegs, The Monkey, Bring Her Back, and Heretic – it’s clear that horror is experiencing a major boom. This makes now the perfect time for a new streaming service dedicated to horror to launch and give fans some affordable thrills, especially this month.
BloodStream probably won’t immediately challenge Shudder or ScreamBox, mainly because its library currently focuses on lesser-known and older films. However, if BloodStream maintains its affordable pricing, it could become a popular alternative for horror fans over time.
