As much as I love Jack Sparrow – and let’s face it, he’s been in every Pirates film so far – the series wouldn’t be what it is without the other core characters. Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, and Captain Barbossa, to name a few, have really been the heart of the franchise. A new movie could definitely draw an audience just on the ‘Pirates’ name, but having those original actors back would add a special nostalgic element that a completely new cast might struggle to recreate. It’s about more than just pirates; it’s about those pirates.
