‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Star Gets Candid About Possible Reunion

Disney is currently working on the next installment in the popular series, and the writers are focused on crafting a compelling story to bring the franchise back to life. While nothing is confirmed yet, the casting choices are crucial to the film’s success. Orlando Bloom, who famously played Will Turner, has talked about potentially returning, but he recently indicated that the original cast members haven’t officially signed on.

Orlando Bloom recently spoke with Deadline and discussed the possibility of another Pirates of the Caribbean movie. He expressed pride in the franchise’s history, but admitted he doesn’t know if any future films are currently being planned.

You know, looking back, I’m incredibly proud of the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Someone recently mentioned the possibility of another one, and it really struck me just how special those movies were. It’s amazing to see how they’ve resonated with audiences – my own kids adore them, and now their friends are getting into them too! It’s a legacy I’m really happy to be a part of.

I’ve been thinking a lot about why this feels so special right now. It really makes you wonder, ‘What would I do in a situation like this?’ I think people are craving simpler times, honestly. With all this new AI and superintelligence coming at us, it’s comforting to look back at old movies and moments that feel familiar. It’s almost like we’re hoping for a chance to recapture that magic, to get the old team back together and relive those feelings.

It’s a little strange – whenever I talk about it, people act like I’m making plans, but honestly, I’m completely in the dark. Still, I’m really proud of what they’re doing.

Orlando Bloom has always been open to returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and reprising his role as Will Turner. While he couldn’t confirm anything earlier this year about a potential sixth film – Disney is reportedly considering two different movie ideas – he recently told Deadline that he’d only come back if the story was compelling.

Can ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ Work Without the Original Cast?

Buena Vista Pictures Distribution

It’s no secret, and fans have been saying it for years, that the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies hinged on its cast. Especially Johnny Depp, whose portrayal of the famous pirate was so good it earned him an Academy Award nomination.

As much as I love Jack Sparrow – and let’s face it, he’s been in every Pirates film so far – the series wouldn’t be what it is without the other core characters. Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, and Captain Barbossa, to name a few, have really been the heart of the franchise. A new movie could definitely draw an audience just on the ‘Pirates’ name, but having those original actors back would add a special nostalgic element that a completely new cast might struggle to recreate. It’s about more than just pirates; it’s about those pirates.
