KRAFTON India is making big changes to the competitive scene for Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). They’ve introduced a new “structured player transfer window” to manage how players move between esports teams, creating a more organized system.
The first player transfer window is currently open, having begun on October 1st, and will remain open until November 15th. This gives teams roughly six weeks to make changes to their rosters.
As a huge esports fan in India, I was really excited to hear KRAFTON India’s Karan Pathak talk about the Player Transfer Window. He said it’s a big move towards making esports here more professional, and I totally agree! It feels like a really important step for the scene.
BGMI Structured Player Transfer Window is a major step to professionalize esports in India
If this system seems familiar, it’s because similar concepts are used in traditional sports. The new Player Transfer Window for BGMI will create specific times when teams can adjust their rosters. This is expected to improve the competitive BGMI scene, as the organizing company will directly oversee all team changes.

The new transfer system will make sure all player moves are open, fair, and follow the rules of the tournament. This is a significant improvement towards a more professional and reliable process, ensuring everything is clear, responsible, and well-planned.
KRAFTON India will regulate the roster movement and transfer system
The new system gives KRAFTON India control over how players join and move between teams. Each official team must have a registered owner or In-Game Leader (IGL) who will be responsible for approving all player transfers. Here’s how it will work:
- Registered transfers can take place only during the official transfer windows
- Free agents (unaffiliated players) can join Clubs at any time
- Every transaction is logged, verified, and tracked to maintain transparency
Clubs will also be able to create and manage their team lists directly within the KIE (KRAFTON India Esports) system. Here’s how they can do it:
After completing the registration process, teams can compete in official and approved tournaments hosted on the KRAFTON India Esports platform. Some details, such as player salaries, contract lengths, and team conduct rules, are still being finalized. It’s currently unknown how these details will be agreed upon between teams and KRAFTON, or whether the player transfer system simply informs KRAFTON of which players belong to which teams.
No matter the situation, this approach will help all teams and the publisher grow and stay competitive, while also making sure everyone plays by the same rules.
