Oasis reveal who is stepping in to replace Bonehead after guitarist announced he was taking break from tour to undergo cancer treatment

Oasis has announced the musician who will fill in for guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs on their upcoming reunion tour. Arthurs recently shared that he needs to take some time off for cancer treatment.

The band announced that Mike Moore will be filling in for their upcoming concerts in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney over the next three weeks.

Bonehead, 60, revealed the sad news that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in a social media post at the start of the month.

I was really worried when I heard our guitarist had to take some time off for more treatment, but he sent a message saying he’ll be back and ready to go for the South American shows! It’s such a relief knowing he’s prioritizing his health and will still be able to join us for that part of the tour. I’m sending him all my best and hoping for a speedy recovery!

For the last eight years, Mike has often played music for Liam Gallagher, the lead singer of Oasis. He’s also played on Gallagher’s solo albums, including As You Were (2017), Why Me? Why Not. (2019), and C’mon You Know (2022).

According to a source speaking to The Mirror, Mike Moore has been performing with Liam Gallagher since 2017 and is therefore familiar with many of the Oasis songs from his solo shows.

This isn’t a permanent position in the band, and everyone wishes Bonehead well and a speedy recovery. However, it’s a great opportunity for Mike, and he’s really looking forward to performing.

Fans saw the musician at Incheon International Airport in Seoul before Oasis performed at Goyang Stadium on Tuesday night.

The comedian, who previously overcame tonsil cancer, shared on X that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year. Fortunately, he’s currently responding well to treatment.

He expressed his disappointment about having to miss concerts in Asia and Australia, but confirmed he’ll be back with the band for their last five shows, starting November 15th in Buenos Aires.

The renowned musician recently shared that they were diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year. Fortunately, they are responding well to treatment, allowing them to participate in an amazing tour.

I need to take some time off for the next step in my treatment, which means I won’t be able to make it to my shows in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney.

I’m disappointed to have to miss these performances, but I’m recovering well and expect to be back in action for the South America leg of the tour.

If you’re attending this month, I hope you have a fantastic time! I’m looking forward to seeing you back on stage with the band in November.

Liam and Noel Gallagher shared a message of support for Bonehead on X, wishing him well with his treatment and expressing hope he’ll be able to perform with them again in South America.

Their children also sent supportive messages, with Liam’s daughter, Molly Moorish, simply writing ‘Sending love!’ and Noel’s daughter, Anais, affectionately calling them ‘bonehead’ and adding, ‘We love you so much!’

People within the music industry said Bonehead was key to the band reuniting, even calling him a major force behind it last year.

Oh my god, when the tour was announced in November, everyone said he was absolutely thrilled! Apparently, Liam and Noel both wanted him involved – can you believe it?! It’s because he was a huge part of them finally making up, you know? He’s friends with both of them, and he really helped them get back on track with each other. It just makes sense he’d be part of it, and I’m so happy they realized that!

According to a source who spoke to The Mirror, Liam and Noel Gallagher have recently started speaking again thanks to their mutual friend, known as ‘Bonehead’, who has been trying to reconcile them.

At the beginning of their hugely popular tour, Noel publicly thanked him for reuniting him and Liam, confirming he was the one responsible for bringing them back together.

He turned to the crowd and urged them to applaud the guitarist, saying, ‘Everything we’ve done wouldn’t have been possible without this man – give it up for Mr. Bonehead!’

Bonehead played with Oasis in the band’s early days, along with Liam and Noel Gallagher, Paul McGuigan (also known as Guigsy), and Tony McCarroll.

He departed the band in 1999 while they were recording their fourth album, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, and publicly stated his reason was to focus on his family.

He was one of the original members of the Britpop band and has stayed friends with both Noel and Liam ever since, often performing with Liam during his solo work.

In September 2022, Bonehead announced that doctors had confirmed his cancer was gone after his tonsil cancer diagnosis.

He announced some wonderful news on Instagram: his latest cancer scan, taken ten days ago, came back clear – the cancer is gone!

I’m so grateful for all your kind messages – they’ve meant the world to me and have been a huge help.

He expressed his gratitude to the doctors and nurses who supported him during his illness, sharing a message: ‘A special thank you to the team @TheChristieNHS – I’m now recovering and look forward to seeing you all again soon!’
