Saved By The Bell vet says Diane Keaton taught her a lesson she’ll never forget on The First Wives Club set

Elizabeth Berkley is remembering Diane Keaton days after she died of bacterial pneumonia at age 79.

The 53-year-old actor, known from Saved by the Bell, appeared in the 1996 film The First Wives Club alongside the late actress.

Berkley acted with Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, and Bette Midler, playing the enthusiastic and ambitious character Phoebe LaVelle.

I was so impressed at the ‘All’s Fair’ premiere last week! Seeing Keaton in action really showed me what true leadership is all about – it was inspiring to witness firsthand.

It was a really special experience,” Berkley shared with People. “To be welcomed and supported by these three incredibly talented women, all at the peak of their careers, meant a lot to me, as I’d admired them for so long.

The actress, known for ‘Showgirls,’ shared her profound sadness over the loss, celebrating the woman’s incredible artistic and personal legacy.

She described the remarkable woman as incredibly kind and generous, saying that being around her was a true gift. She was a truly loving and special person.

The famous actress described the three experienced performers as remarkable, saying each one is a powerful and unique talent.

Working with such talented people was a wonderful experience, and everyone on set was incredibly generous and supportive.

I remember when Jennifer Berkley took on *The First Wives Club*. It came right after *Showgirls*, which, honestly, the critics just tore apart. It was tough to see, and she really bounced back with this new role – a much more appreciated one, thankfully!

Looking back on filming the movie in the late 90s, she shared a story about meeting her idols. She said everyone warns you not to get too close to people you admire, but these women exceeded her expectations. They were not only as wonderful as she’d hoped, but also incredibly kind, supportive, and encouraging – especially when she was starting out in the industry.

You know, watching that movie was a real turning point for me. Seeing those women on screen, so powerful and in control, it just clicked. I was in my twenties at the time, and it made me realize what I deserved in my own life – and honestly, I knew right then I’d never settle for anything less. It was incredibly empowering!

It’s been 30 years since the movie *Showgirls* was released, and while it initially failed at the box office, it’s recently become a favorite among younger viewers.

The actress celebrated the occasion with a special movie screening at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas, earlier this month.

She recently shared a throwback movie still on Instagram, featuring her in character as Nomi.

Berkley shared a heartfelt message with her followers, saying that if the young actress who played the role knew how the reaction would change – from initial criticism to overwhelming support with the hashtag #LOVE – she’d be amazed. Berkley added that the actress was always a dreamer and continues to be, regardless of any challenges.

She thought about how life often unfolds in unexpected ways, especially when you’re open to it. Tonight, she felt grateful to be sharing a special time with people who always believed in her.

Finally, the entertainer added, ‘Tonight is for her and all Nomis out there — NOMI=Know Me❤️.’
