Nostalgic ’90s teen drama that “made TV history” to resurface in new UK streaming home

The classic teen drama *Byker Grove*, starring Ant and Dec, is now available to stream in the UK. Set in Newcastle, the show followed a group of friends as they spent time together at their local youth club, called the Grove, and originally aired on BBC One.

Running from 1989 to 2006, the show tackled important issues affecting young people, such as drug abuse, child abuse, prejudice against LGBTQ+ individuals, and abortion. It was also groundbreaking for UK children’s television, featuring the first-ever gay kiss in 1994 between the characters Noddy Fishwick and Gary Hendrix.

The TV show *Byker Grove* is famous for giving Ant and Dec their start. They were well-loved characters named PJ and Duncan on the program.

Mitre Studios, the company that makes the show, now has a deal with ITVX to stream all 18 seasons starting November 16th.

Viewers have watched Ant & Dec for years, and we’re excited to show them where it all began! This November, you can stream the series where they first appeared together on ITVX, said Craig Morris, ITV’s Director of Channels, ITVX & Acquisitions.

Dr. Ed Sleeman from Mitre Studios noted that the return of *Byker Grove* on ITVX is significant because the show is a TV classic. It’s famous for launching the careers of Ant & Dec and for being a formative experience for many viewers.

Ant and Dec became famous for their music, releasing eight successful singles as their comedy characters. They then went on to host popular TV shows like *Britain’s Got Talent*, *Saturday Night Takeaway*, and *I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!*

In addition to its own impact, *Byker Grove* helped launch the careers of several well-known actors, including Jill Halfpenny (known for *The Feud*), Donna Air (*The Split*), Charlie Hardwick (*Emmerdale*), and Charlie Hunnam (*Sons of Anarchy*).

I just finished watching the newest season of that *Monster* series on Netflix, and it was seriously creepy! Charlie Hunnam played Ed Gein, and honestly, he did a really unsettling job. It came out on October 3rd, if you’re looking for something spooky to check out.

Okay, so I was reading about this seriously creepy guy, Ed Gein. Netflix called him the ‘godfather of serial killers,’ which is a pretty intense title! He was responsible for killing a bunch of women back in the 1950s in Wisconsin. But the really disturbing part? When the police finally caught on, they discovered he’d been digging up graves and… well, let’s just say he wasn’t treating the bodies with any respect. It’s seriously messed up stuff.

All 18 seasons of Byker Grove will be available to stream on ITVX from 16 November.

The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can purchase Ariana & Witches at newsagents or online for only £8.99.
