After nearly ten years, the hit show *Stranger Things* is finally going to explain the mystery of the Upside Down. According to co-creator Ross Duffer, they’ve been debating revealing its origins for years, but now the time has come. He told *Variety* they kept putting it off, but now they ‘have to’ share the truth.
Since Will Byers was taken to the Upside Down by the Demogorgon, fans have been speculating about what would happen next. But when the fifth season of the show premieres on Netflix, we’ll finally have some answers. According to Matt Duffer, they’ve known how the series would end for a long time, and weren’t struggling to come up with a conclusion.
We spent weeks debating certain parts of it, but we’d known the main idea for the ending for a long time. Overall, we’re very pleased with how it turned out. It’s always a bit scary releasing something new, and we expect people will have different reactions.

Reddit users have proposed a few ideas about the origins of the Upside Down. One theory is that Vecna intentionally built it to resemble Hawkins, envisioning it as the place he’d control. Another suggests Eleven unintentionally created the alternate dimension, and it’s somehow linked to her own mind.
People have also been speculating online that the Upside Down might actually be another version of Earth. These are just fan theories for now, but we should get some answers in a little over a month.

Netflix announced that the fifth and final season of *Stranger Things* will be released in three parts. The first four episodes will be available starting November 26th, followed by another three episodes on Christmas Day (December 25th). The last three episodes, completing the season, will arrive on December 31st.
It’s fall 1987, and the town of Hawkins is still recovering from the events that opened the Rifts. Our heroes are determined to find and defeat Vecna, but he’s disappeared, and no one knows where he is or what he’s planning.
Their task is made even harder by a government-imposed military quarantine of the town and a renewed, urgent search for Eleven, pushing her into hiding once more. With the anniversary of Will’s disappearance drawing near, a sense of familiar fear begins to grow.

The decisive battle is almost here, and it will bring a danger far greater than anything they’ve encountered yet. To finally defeat this threat, they’ll need the entire team to unite for one final stand.
In an interview with *People* magazine, Finn Wolfhard described feeling a mix of emotions about how his character’s story concluded. He said he was pleased with the ending, but also felt confused and sad, alongside a sense of happiness.
It was awesome that the whole cast stuck around for the final day. We all got to hang out together, and honestly, being with everyone was just a really good vibe.
Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are streaming on Netflix. Season five premieres on 26 November.
