Given Amber Davies’ extensive background as a professional dancer – over ten years of experience – she probably anticipated some criticism when she started competing on Strictly Come Dancing.
The former Love Island contestant is no newcomer to performing arts. They’ve already had a successful career on the West End, appearing in shows like Back to the Future: The Musical and The Great Gatsby, and are very comfortable with costumes and energetic dance routines.
From what I’m hearing, Amber is really upset about the negative reaction she’s getting from both her fellow cast members and the show’s fans. It sounds like she’s pretty frustrated with the whole situation, and honestly, I can understand why – dealing with public criticism is never easy.
In fact, she’s fired the managers and publicists who originally got her the spot on the show.
Although the judges loved her performance last Saturday – giving her the highest score of the season so far – I’ve heard she can be demanding and difficult when she’s not on camera.
Amber, 29, unexpectedly switched management companies recently, leaving Massive, the firm that represents many celebrities. This move has surprised some people in the entertainment industry, especially since she was brought in as a last-minute replacement for Dani Dyer, who was injured.
Interestingly, she recently updated the contact information on her popular Instagram account. She swapped her previous publicist, Simon Jones—who also works with Ant and Dec and previously represented One Direction and Little Mix—for DawBell, a London PR firm that represents stars like Sir Paul McCartney, Harry Styles, James Corden, and Michelle Keegan.
Mr Jones, though, says that he stepped away from working with Amberin November last year.

A close friend of Amber Davies revealed to The Mail on Sunday that she’s been criticized for her extensive background in dance. Things haven’t been going as smoothly for her as she expected.
Strictly viewers are pretty savvy and won’t be fooled by displays like that. They enjoy seeing a contestant improve and develop, not someone who’s already a polished performer. Amber is incredibly driven and competitive, and that really comes across in how she approaches the competition.
Amber is incredibly determined and competitive – she’s always been that way, even as a child. She really strives to get what she wants, and gets upset when she doesn’t.
Since appearing on Love Island eight years ago, she’s gone through a number of agents. She quickly fires them if they don’t seem to be boosting her career to the highest level.
Friends recently told The Mail that Ms. Davies is incredibly driven and ambitious, even willing to be tough to achieve her goals. They described how she strategically planned her career, working her way up from a modest background in rural North Wales to become a leading figure in her field.
I’ve been following her journey since she won Love Island in 2017, and it’s been interesting to see how she’s navigated the industry. She’s actually gone through four different agents over the years! Her first one did stick with her for about four years, which was great, but she’s clearly had to find the right fit a few times now.

‘It isn’t that surprising to see Amber parting company with members of her management team again,’ says my source. ‘She’s got some form for it, and now she’s on Strictly she definitely sees her star as on the rise even more than before.
She’ll definitely expect her team to go all out for her and will be looking for significant opportunities as a result.
She’s gone through several assistants who put in a lot of effort, but she’s likely been unhappy with the criticism she’s received about her looks. Plus, she enjoys being the center of attention.
There have been several changes in her relationship status, too.
She’s currently in a stable relationship with actor Ben Joyce, having dated him for three years. However, she previously had a short-term romance with Danny Simpson, a former professional soccer player known for his rebellious image.
Former footballer Richard Simpson played for several clubs including Leicester City, Manchester United, and Newcastle. He famously dated singer Tulisa Contostavlos and, in 2014, was convicted of assaulting his then-partner, Stephanie Ward, with whom he shares a daughter named Skye.

He reportedly showed romantic interest in Amber through social media, and things escalated when Simpson, who was not in a relationship at the time, invited her on a luxurious trip. He purchased a plane ticket for her, and she traveled to meet him at his resort.
According to a source, Amber is currently dating a fellow actor from London’s West End and seems happy. However, the source also said that she previously expressed a desire to date someone famous.
Danny showed some interest, and she was quickly happy to start spending time with him, even going on vacation together. Unfortunately, the relationship didn’t last, and she was upset when he lost interest and moved on.
‘Obviously she was much more of a romantic at heart than he was at the time.’
Amber won Love Island with Kem Cetinay, but they broke up soon after. Reports suggested Amber felt Kem wasn’t mature enough and wasn’t looking for a committed relationship.
She had a complicated relationship with businessman Nick Kyriacou, with periods of being together and apart. There were also reports she briefly dated singer Tom Grennan when he was first starting out.
Okay, so I’ve heard from someone close to the situation, and honestly? I *knew* Danny and Amber wouldn’t work. She’s just… not into that whole ‘bad boy’ vibe, and he definitely gives off strong bad boy energy. It was a total mismatch from the start, and I’m not surprised it didn’t last. She deserves someone way more her speed!
She was attracted to his celebrity and had a crush on him, but it’s good that the relationship didn’t last.
Amber is likely hoping a new team handling her public image will help her stay on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ for longer.
