Beyonce wears a headscarf in Qatar as Jay-Z is spied at a nearby museum during Middle East sojourn

Beyoncé is known for wearing her long, flowing hair, but this week she surprised everyone with a new style.

While visiting Qatar, the singer covered her long hair with a traditional headscarf – a hijab or khimar – making it difficult to recognize her.

Beyoncé, age 44, was recently seen shopping at Yves Saint Laurent with her team, but it’s unknown if she bought anything.

Qatar is a country located on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, in the Middle East. Its laws are primarily based on Sharia law, especially when it comes to family matters, inheritance, and some types of crimes.

In Sharia, the law requires women to cover their hair in public as a way to practice modesty.

The most popular hair coverings are the Hijab, Dupatta, Chador, Khimar, Jilbab and Burqa.

The singer known for ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ covered her head, neck, and shoulders with what looked like a khimar. She completed the look with sunglasses and lipstick.

Beyonce had on a black jacket, slacks and black strappy sandals.

Jay-Z, her husband, was also seen in Qatar, according to a photo shared on Instagram by the museum he toured.

Oh my gosh, you guys, Jay-Z was at the National Museum of Qatar! I nearly died! The museum posted this amazing caption saying they got to share all about Qatar’s incredible history and culture *with Jay-Z*! Can you even imagine?! It’s like, our heritage is so amazing it caught the attention of a legend. I’m still freaking out!

As a huge fan of Qatari culture, I was thrilled when the new National Museum of Qatar opened its doors in 2019! It’s located right in Doha, and it’s a truly stunning building. It actually replaced an older museum that had been around since 1975, but this new one is something else. The brilliant French architect, Jean Nouvel, designed it, and you can really see his vision in the incredible architecture.

The power couple have spent time in the Middle East before.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Taylor actually performed a secret show in Dubai back in January 2023! It was for the grand opening of this incredible hotel called Atlantis The Royal, and I’m still losing my mind thinking about it. It was so exclusive, just a lucky few got to see her! I wish I’d been there!

Her spouse was also seen in the city at the same time.

The duo also were photographed for a Tiffany & Co campaign that was shot in the Middle East.

Hair is important to Beyonce as she owns the hair care brand Cecred.

Beyonce explained in September that she started making her own hair treatments because she couldn’t find products that worked for her.

Pop star Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, shared that her daughter struggled for years to find hair products that worked for her. Frustrated with what was available, Beyoncé began creating her own, eventually leading to the launch of her brand, Cecred, last year.

As a long-time supporter of Cecred, it really touched me to hear Tina, the vice chairwoman, explain to Forbes how deeply this collection resonates with her daughter. She shared that it’s incredibly personal because her daughter has personally experienced these struggles throughout her life, and that makes it all the more meaningful to see Cecred addressing them.

Throughout her career, she’s tried many different hairstyles, including wigs, weaves, braids, and extensions. Like many people, she often had to create her own hair solutions because she couldn’t find products that worked for her.

Beyonce once shared that she has a deep personal connection to her hair, remembering fondly spending time at her mother’s hair salon when she was growing up.

She shared with the publication that her hair holds many cherished memories, explaining that our connection to our hair is a very personal experience.

Growing up, I cherished time spent with my mother in her salon and the care my father gave me, treating my psoriasis with oil. These were special moments. Salons and barbershops are more than just places to get a haircut; they’re community hubs where people connect and escape the stresses of daily life.

It’s a space where they can feel good about themselves, express their feelings, have fun, share personal stories, and offer advice to one another. It’s a regular and vital gathering, a true safe haven for them.
