Coleen Rooney playfully referenced the famous “Wagatha Christie” case in a funny new Paddy Power ad, featuring Danny Dyer and Gemma Collins.
Coleen Rooney, 39, gained notoriety for her detective work – playfully dubbed ‘Wagatha Christie’ – when she investigated who was sharing private information about her with the media. Her investigation led to a legal battle with Rebekah Vardy, which Coleen ultimately won.
For a new Paddy Power Gaming video, EastEnders star Danny Dyer challenged her to crack another case.
Danny was walking through a casino when he unexpectedly saw his friend Peter Crouch. Just then, Gemma yelled her well-known phrase, but changed it slightly, shouting ‘I’m claustrophobic Danny!’
Moments later Danny shouts: ‘Oi! Which melt has left their drink on my felt?’
Coleen then sends a text to Danny which reads, ‘It’s… Gemma Collins’.

Danny calls Coleen a ‘silent assassin,’ and the camera then shows her playfully winking while playing a slot machine.
The video concludes with Danny, bare-chested in a bathtub, gambling on his phone. He accidentally drops the phone into the water, and becomes visibly angry.
In 2022, Rebekah took Coleen to court after being accused of sharing private stories with the media, but her lawsuit was unsuccessful.
After losing the highly publicized libel case, she was ordered to pay £1,190,000 towards Coleen’s legal fees, and an additional £212,266 to cover assessment costs.
This brings Rebekah’s total payments to at least £1,402,266.20. The Daily Mail reports she’s already paid a portion of this, including £800,000 four years ago and £100,000 last year.
The ‘Wagatha Christie’ case began when Coleen publicly posted a message on social media in October 2019, explaining she’d investigated to find out who was sharing her private stories with the press.
Coleen publicly accused Rebekah of leaking information to the press. Specifically, she claimed Rebekah’s Instagram account was the source of three false stories: one about Coleen seeking a gender selection procedure in Mexico, another about her plans to return to television, and a third about flooding in her basement.
Coleen admitted she suspected someone was leaking stories and explained she had a plan to find out who it was.

‘I blocked everyone from viewing my Instagram stories except ONE account,’ she wrote.
Over the following five months, she posted several fabricated stories online to check if news outlets would publish them.
Honestly, I was so thrilled when she finally shared everything! She wrote about the whole journey – from deciding to explore gender selection in Mexico, to making her comeback to television, and even the recent drama with the flooding in her new home. It felt so personal and real, and I was completely hooked!
It’s been difficult staying quiet, especially with rumors spreading, but I had to wait until I knew for sure where the leaks were coming from. Now I do.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been looking closely at the original posts, and I’ve kept records – screenshots, actually – that definitively prove only one person saw them. It’s clear from the data I’ve collected.
And then, she delivered her final iconic line: ‘It’s………. Rebekah Vardy’s account.’
In February 2020, Rebekah appeared on the ITV show Loose Women and tearfully explained that the stress of the ongoing dispute had given her such bad anxiety that she had to go to the hospital three times.
Coleen responded to the emotional outburst by saying she didn’t want to discuss the issue publicly anymore.

In June 2020, Rebekah sued Coleen for libel, claiming the published post and its aftermath caused her significant emotional distress, including anxiety, hurt, and embarrassment.
In November, during an initial hearing in London’s High Court, Judge Warby determined that Coleen’s public post unmistakably accused Rebekah of repeatedly and seriously violating her trust.
He argued that the posts clearly showed Rebekah consistently misused her access to Coleen Rooney’s private Instagram account by repeatedly sharing confidential information with the media.
In February 2022, when the case went back to court, damaging text messages between Rebekah and her agent, Caroline Watt, came to light. Coleen’s legal team claimed these messages were discussing her.
Rebekah denied that one message calling someone a ‘nasty b****’ was in reference to Coleen.
When defence lawyers requested access to Ms. Watt’s phone to examine her WhatsApp messages, they were informed it had been lost at sea during a holiday when she was on a boat.
The court wouldn’t allow Coleen Rooney to add a claim about misuse of private information against Rebekah Vardy to her existing libel case, because it was filed after the deadline.

Following this, Ms. Watt was declared unable to testify, her written statement was excluded as evidence, and she cancelled the agreement that would have allowed reporters to confirm if she was the source of the leaks.
Coleen’s lawyer told the court that Rebekah seems to agree her agent was the one who shared the private stories. However, Rebekah maintains she never approved of or encouraged her agent’s actions.
The highly publicized “Wagatha Christie” trial started in London’s Royal Courts of Justice in May 2022, bringing the two women involved together in court to present their evidence for the first time.
Coleen won her legal battle the following month when the judge, Mrs Justice Steyn, ruled in her favor. The judge dismissed Rebekah’s claim, deciding that Coleen had successfully proven her original statement – the one she sent in a now-famous letter – was largely accurate.
Although Coleen was happy with the judge’s ruling, Rebekah expressed her strong disappointment with the outcome.
