Australians have come out in force this week to get their hands on Bluey Christmas Dollarbucks.
The Royal Australian Mint released a limited number of collectable coins on Thursday featuring Bluey and Bingo wearing festive hats. The coins are available in both gold and silver.
The gold coins are selling for $20 while the rare silver coins can be bought for $100.
Bluey is a popular Australian animated TV show that first aired in 2018. It’s about the playful adventures of a lovable blue heeler puppy.
People camped out overnight to be among the first to buy the Perth Mint’s new Christmas coins, and they sold out almost immediately when the Mint opened.
“It’s fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, and it’s really unifying for the community, especially when times are tough,” said Perth Mint CEO Paul Graham to Perth Now.

‘People want them – demand is significantly outstripping supply.’
These Bluey coins are incredibly popular with fans, and they might also be a valuable investment.
A TikTok video shows just how eager Australians are to collect loose change, and highlights how much that change can actually be worth.
On camera, @dannyflippingdeals showed the long line of people waiting for Bluey coins at a shopping mall in Adelaide.
‘When you can make $400 straight away on release day, it’s just easy money.’
He then asked his followers: ‘How long would you wait in a line to save or make 300 plus dollars?’
This isn’t the first time Aussies have gone into a meltdown over Bluey coins.
Throughout 2024, Australia Post saw long lines as people eagerly sought the collectible, colourful Bluey Dollarbucks after a hugely successful initial sale earlier in the year.

Okay, seriously, I couldn’t believe my luck! While everyone else was debating if getting a Bluey coin was even *worth* the hassle, I jumped in and made over $250 profit on just one flip! I turned $300 into $550+ while people were still standing in line for *hours* hoping to get lucky. It’s about being a player, not a spectator, you know? Forget waiting – I paid a little extra and flipped it smart. Honestly, the returns are insane! #blueycoin #blueycoins #bluey #coinrelease #resellerlife

Additionally, customers reported the website went down because so many people were attempting to purchase the items.
The coins showcased characters from the popular show Bluey, including Bluey, Bingo, their parents, and friends like Rad, Frisky, Muffin, Socks, Stripe, Trixie, and Nana.
Australia Post’s Josh Bannister announced their enthusiasm for launching Bluey-themed collectable coins.
If you love watching Bluey, whether you’re a new fan or have been enjoying the show for a while, these coins are a special way to feel closer to your favorite characters and celebrate a show that’s brought joy to so many families in Australia and around the world.
