Marvel TV Boss Reveals New Unusual MCU Trilogy (Which Includes ‘Wonder Man’)

Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel TV, recently announced the next set of characters Marvel will be focusing on, and surprisingly, the upcoming *Wonder Man* series is included. Early next year, Marvel Studios will introduce Simon Williams, a brand new hero to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Disney+ series is unique for the MCU, as it will be a full-on satire, playfully criticizing the entertainment world.

Despite everything that’s happened, Marvel seems to consider *Wonder Man* as the concluding chapter in a three-part story. Brad Winderbaum, a key executive at Marvel Studios, shared on the *Phase Hero* podcast that the series could wrap up the storyline centered around Ben Kingsley’s character, Trevor Slattery.

Discussing Kingsley’s long involvement with the franchise, starting with *Iron Man 3*, Winderbaum remarked, “It feels like a complete three-part story.”

“It kind of has this trilogy feeling. After ‘Wonder Man’ Season 1 you can map out…”

The Marvel executive was interrupted by applause when he hinted that the *Wonder Man* series could span multiple seasons.

According to Winderbaum, the story arc featuring Trevor Slattery unfolds across three films: *Iron Man 3*, *Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings*, and the forthcoming *Wonder Man*. He also highlighted the short film *All Hail the King*, which paved the way for Slattery’s return following the events of *Iron Man 3*.

Ben Kingsley first appeared as the villainous Mandarin in *Iron Man 3*, but it was later revealed he was actually an actor playing the part. He reprised the role in *Shang-Chi*, this time as a prisoner of the Ten Rings organization, having been discovered as an imposter of their leader after years of deception.

As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really excited about *Wonder Man*! It’s cool they’re setting the story right in the heart of Hollywood – talk about a meta move! This eight-episode series, coming to Disney+ on January 27, 2026 (it got pushed back from 2025, unfortunately), promises a fun, slightly satirical look at the movie business, and since Marvel’s a big part of that world, it should be pretty interesting to see how they play with it. It’ll be great to see Wonder Man in his element, surrounded by all that craziness.

The Future of MCU Character Trilogies

Three-movie arcs have become a key part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Major heroes and teams, including Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor, have each had their stories told across a dedicated trilogy of films.

It looks like this trend will continue for a long time. Even characters who originally had small roles, like Trevor Slattery, are now getting their own multi-part stories!

In 2026, a new Spider-Man trilogy is expected to begin with the release of *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*. This fourth film starring Tom Holland will launch a fresh direction for the character, marking what Holland calls “the start of a new chapter” and moving beyond the previous ‘Spider-Man Home Trilogy’.

As a big fan, I wouldn’t be shocked if *Brand New Day* starts a whole new story for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, basically launching another three-movie series! It seems like we’re always getting a new trilogy with him, and this could easily be the next one.

Next year will conclude the three projects connected to *WandaVision*: *WandaVision* itself, *Agatha All Along*, and *VisionQuest*.

Looking ahead, I see a few more Marvel heroes poised to get the full trilogy treatment. Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi definitely feels like he’s building towards something bigger, and I fully expect to see more adventures with Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. But the most exciting possibility, in my opinion, is Letitia Wright taking the mantle as Shuri, and continuing the legacy of Black Panther. Those are the characters I’m keeping my eye on for extended storylines over the next couple of years.

As long as Marvel Studios continues to make movies, you can expect to see characters get roughly three films dedicated to their story.
