I’ve seen Professor Green’s true colours. He called me a c*** news ***** – and that wasn’t the worst part. I’ll never forget what he did to me, says KATIE HIND

Rapper Professor Green has always been very honest about his personal life, openly sharing difficult experiences like growing up with little money, his struggles with addiction, and his fight against depression.

His struggles resonated with so many people that the BBC commissioned him to create several documentaries about his experiences. These covered difficult topics like suicide and homelessness, and even a program exploring drug legalization titled ‘Is It Time to Legalise Weed?’.

Among bosses at the Beeb, he was much revered for his honest and empathetic outlook.

This week, Stephen Manderson, also known as Professor Green, spoke about his past relationship with Millie Mackintosh, explaining they seemed to connect through shared difficult experiences. He suggested both he and Mackintosh may have had undiagnosed ADHD during their time together, which contributed to their bond.

Just recently, it was revealed that Millie and her rapper husband almost didn’t get married in 2013 – he nearly cancelled their wedding at the last minute, according to Millie.

I saw all the sympathy for Green popping up again, but honestly, I couldn’t join in. Back in 2013, he really showed his true self when he went on a nasty rant against me on Twitter – now X, of course. It’s hard to forget something like that, so I just can’t feel bad for him.

I wrote a story that summer featuring him and Millie buying a house in Peckham, a neighborhood in southeast London. Green was really angry about it, claiming I’d revealed his address, which struck me as odd since Millie, who usually preferred more affluent areas of West London, would likely never choose to live there.

Not only was this a false allegation, but it was accompanied by a barrel of misogynistic bile.

He launched into a furious online rant, using extremely offensive and abusive language to insult a woman, publicly sharing the post with his large following.

I was genuinely threatened and my personal life was disrupted by this woman, and it’s shocking that anyone would try to justify her actions. I don’t understand why she would target me.

Let me clarify something – I definitely didn’t reveal his address! I simply mentioned he’d purchased a home in Peckham. Now, Peckham is a really big area with tons of homes – around 30,000, actually. So, the information in my piece couldn’t possibly have led anyone to his specific house, street, or even which part of Peckham he lives in. It was a general location, nothing more.

Green and Millie were also deliberately cultivating a public image as the hottest couple at the time, and they clearly enjoyed the media attention they were receiving.

But Green’s insults didn’t stop there.

He continued, explaining that he’d worked incredibly hard to build a good life, and now Katie Hind was threatening everything he’d achieved. He asked why he shouldn’t be allowed to speak freely about her, considering she’d already spoken freely about him.

The rapper also said it’s ironic that most journalists aren’t intentionally harmful, but a few bad ones give the profession a bad name. He emphasized his respect for women, explaining he was raised by two strong women and is marrying someone he considers amazing.

This woman published a truly awful article that was unnecessarily harsh and revealed my address. It’s unacceptable that she would risk my safety like that for a pointless and unimportant story.

After Green publicly criticized me, I received a flood of hateful messages from his followers. Most were simply offensive, but two were particularly disturbing. One person threatened to find me at work and harm me, and another made a shockingly vile statement that I can’t even repeat.

I was lucky to be on vacation in Greece when everything happened, so I wasn’t in immediate danger – but Green wasn’t aware of that.

He eventually offered a limited apology for his angry and aggressive outburst, stating: ‘I was wrong to call you that name, and I apologize – however, I still believe you are a deeply unpleasant and spiteful person.’

The next day, Green sent me a three-page letter apologizing and explaining his tough life. I wrote back, pointing out that as someone with a public profile, he needed to be more careful with his actions – and he agreed.

He didn’t want to address the situation publicly, so the harassment continued for several days. Eventually, he asked his fans to stop, but it was a weak and delayed response.

Eventually, the insults stopped and words, of course, cannot kill you – so we all moved on.

He was going out with Millie back then, and I remember being surprised – he came from the famous Quality Street family, and she seemed really unpleasant and prejudiced. Thankfully, Millie realized her mistake after three years, and they broke up in a bitter split.

She’s now married to Hugo Taylor, who she used to appear with on Made In Chelsea. He had a brief affair with another cast member, Rosie Fortescue, back in 2011, though she maintains that didn’t happen.

Green claims he’s moved past the bad feelings from his breakup with Millie, even though he publicly said some harsh things about her on Twitter. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same – I still have unresolved issues with him.

I understand celebrities have the right to disagree with my writing and offer a response, but his behavior was unacceptable and demonstrated clear hypocrisy.

I’ll never forget what Green revealed about his character back in July 2013, and it doesn’t matter how much sympathy he tries to gain now.
