Rapper Cardi B is willing to get “nasty” when it comes to defending her kids.
After releasing her album “Am I the Drama?” in September, the singer of “I Like It” got into a public argument with Nicki Minaj. Unfortunately, their children were also involved in the dispute.
In a recent interview with Paper magazine, Cardi B opened up about the combative exchange.
“This week I showed the world that I will get the most nasty about mine. I never had to get that nasty for my kids. But I did, and I really feel like a lioness,” she said. “This has been one of the moments I got tested the most about being a parent.”
As a fan, it’s been wild watching the back-and-forth between these two queens of rap – it actually started way back in 2017! Things really flared up again recently, in late September, on X, when Nicki seemed to downplay Cardi’s album sales. After that, it just turned into a total takedown of each other, digging into everything about their lives, both personal and career-wise.
Cardi B criticized Nicki Minaj for arguing with her on X (formerly Twitter) instead of focusing on her son’s birthday. The conflict escalated when Minaj insulted Cardi B’s seven-year-old daughter and questioned her son’s development. After Cardi B challenged Minaj to a face-to-face meeting, both stopped publicly addressing each other.
Cardi B says she’s fiercely protective of her family, describing herself as a “mother warrior.” She’s expecting her fourth child, her first with football player Stefon Diggs. She already has three children – Kulture, Wave, and Blossom – with rapper Offset.
Cardi B’s new album, “Am I the Drama?”, marks her first full-length release in seven years. It quickly topped the Billboard 200 chart and went platinum in just ten days. She previously achieved major success with her debut album, “Invasion of Privacy,” winning a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album in 2019 – a first for a solo female artist in that category.
While promoting her latest album, Cardi B has been open about parenting. In an interview with Paper magazine, she shared that she wants to teach her children the importance of hard work.
Listening to her talk about raising her kids, it’s clear she’s instilled a strong belief in hard work. She really hopes that drive is something they all possess. It’s not about competition between them, but ensuring none of them feel like they’re falling behind. Her advice is surprisingly direct: stop overthinking things, avoid procrastination at all costs, and just *do* the work. It’s a ‘just go for it’ philosophy, and honestly, it’s pretty refreshing. She cuts straight to the chase – don’t dwell on questions, just take action.
