Mega Rayquaza tears through the clouds for a Pokémon GO Raid Day

This Raid Day might just become the biggest October event for Pokémon GO.

Mega Rayquaza, a very powerful Pokémon in Pokémon GO raids, will be featured in a special event called Raid Day on October 18th. This will give players another chance to battle and catch it.

Rayquaza, often called the Sky High Pokémon, lives in the ozone layer. It’s famous for being the only Pokémon that could stop a devastating fight between Kyogre and Groudon.

Rayquaza is a powerful Pokémon in the games, living up to its legendary reputation. The Mega Rayquaza Raid Day is an event both new and veteran Pokémon GO players won’t want to miss.

Why attend the Mega Rayquaza Raid Day?

Mega Rayquaza is one of the strongest attackers in Pokémon GO. It’s the best Flying-type attacker by a significant margin, and only slightly weaker than Eternatus as a Dragon-type attacker.

Based on its stats in Pokémon GO, Mega Rayquaza is likely the most powerful Legendary Pokémon currently available. Expect large groups of players to participate in Raids when its special event day begins on October 18th.

This legendary Pokémon has appeared in raids before, so we’ve already created a guide for Mega Rayquaza. It details its weaknesses and the best Pokémon to use against it if you’d like a refresher.

Mega Evolving Rayquaza in Pokémon GO

Okay, so mega evolving Rayquaza in Pokémon GO is gonna be a little different than the other megas. It’s not just about collecting Mega Energy – you *also* need to make sure Rayquaza knows the move Dragon Ascent as a Charged Attack before you can even start the mega evolution process. It’s an extra step, but it seems like it’ll be worth it!

Rayquaza learns the move Dragon Ascent by finding Meteorites, which you earn by finishing special Timed Research challenges.

Just so you know: after you defeat Mega Rayquaza in a raid, you’ll encounter the regular Rayquaza afterwards, not its Mega Evolution.
