Galactus Kills Beloved X-Men Hero as Age of Revelation Begins

The recent ‘Age of Revelation‘ storyline showed several X-Men dying in a possible future. While the team has often dealt with time travel and alternate realities, making character deaths somewhat common, it was still shocking to see one X-Men member perish while trying to protect Earth from Galactus, the planet-eating cosmic being.

I was reading the “Unbreakable X-Men” #1 tie-in to the “Age of Revelation” event, and it was really interesting! Gail Simone wrote it, with art by Lucas Werneck, and it gives you a glimpse into what the future holds for the current Uncanny X-Men team. They’re still based out of that house near New Orleans, but a big change? Young Ransom has stepped up to lead the team, taking over from Rogue. It’s cool to see him in charge, even though he’s still a teenager in the main timeline.

The team suddenly faced a huge threat when Galactus appeared near their headquarters. He explained he was looking for Dome, one of their members, and had chosen her to be his new herald. Because Dome was a young girl who wanted to stay on Earth, the heroes fought to save her and the planet.

Which X-Men hero died to save Earth from Galactus?

Even with all their strength, the X-Men were no match for Galactus. That is, until Rogue made a risky attempt to absorb some of Galactus’s immense power. This resulted in Rogue and Galactus appearing to fuse together, becoming a massive, motionless statue. It seemed Rogue had saved the city and the Earth, but at the cost of her own life.

Later in Unbreakable X-Men #1, a scene implies Rogue’s sacrifice might not have completely stopped Galactus. The scene shows Galactus in a coma at the bottom of the ocean years later, having lost most of his power, but his body reappeared somewhere else on Earth. The issue ends with Galactus starting to wake up, hinting he still has a part to play in the coming Age of Revelation.

Unbreakable X-Men #1 is now available at comic shops everywhere.
