Dragon Ball Franchise Officially Drops ‘Dragon Ball Super’ Branding After 10 Years

A new chapter for *Dragon Ball* is starting soon. After a long wait, it looks like the anime is finally moving forward with a new project.

The official Dragon Ball account on X (formerly Twitter) recently updated its name after a decade. It’s now @/DB_anime_info, changing from its previous handle, @/DB_super2015. Interestingly, this change happened despite the recent 40th anniversary of the franchise, when many expected a branding update. Fans are now wondering if this signals the end of the Dragon Ball Super era and the start of a new direction for the series.

Dragon Ball Official Social Media Rebrand Hints at Exciting New Series Era

Fans are excited about new developments in the *Dragon Ball* universe after a period of quiet. The recent conclusion of *Dragon Ball Daima* on February 28, 2025, left many wondering what the future held for the series, especially following the passing of its creator, Akira Toriyama. This positive news offers reassurance about the franchise’s continuation.

Despite assurances from Toyotarou, the artist and co-creator of the *Dragon Ball Super* manga, that the series will continue, it hasn’t had a new chapter since a special one-shot in February. Currently, Toyotarou is focused on other projects. Recent changes to *Dragon Ball*’s social media branding hint that the franchise is preparing to move ahead without its original creator, Toriyama, and may be shifting focus away from *Dragon Ball Super*.

The original Twitter account for *Dragon Ball* references the 2015 release of *Dragon Ball Super*. Unfortunately, the show’s return was troubled by production issues that affected the animation quality of the first episodes. These early story arcs were adapted from recent movies, like *Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods*, which made the difference in art style even more noticeable. Despite this rocky start, the initial problems with the show are still discussed online.

Toei Animation seemed to have improved its production process after the difficulties with *Dragon Ball Super*, giving both experienced and new animators a chance to create impressive action scenes. Now that *Daima* has finished airing, many *Dragon Ball* fans are wondering if a sequel might be coming. While there’s talk of a new *Dragon Ball* animated movie being developed, there’s been no official announcement yet.

As a huge Dragon Ball fan, I’m loving that we’re still getting tons of content! The recent Dragon Ball games have been getting awesome updates – the new *Daimathemed DLC for *Sparking! Zero* added Super Saiyan 4 Goku, which was fantastic. But the biggest surprise? *Dragon Ball FighterZ* is coming back! After four years without a major update, they’re adding a new fighter in 2026, and it’s going to be the adult version of SSJ4 Goku as he appears in *Daima*! I honestly didn’t expect *FighterZ* to get more support, so this is a really exciting development.

Dragon Ball Daima is available to stream on Netflix, Hulu and Crunchyroll.
