Caramelo Becomes an Instant Streaming Hit

According to Netflix’s Tudum website, the new film *Caramelo* has quickly become the most popular non-English movie on the streaming service. As of today, it’s been viewed over 17.3 million times, totaling more than 29.2 million hours of watch time. The film *French Lover*, currently in second place, has 4 million views and 8.1 million hours viewed after three weeks in the top 10.

Diego Freitas directed *Caramelo*, a film written with Rod Azevedo and Vitor Brandt. It stars Rafael Vitti as Pedro, a chef whose life is turned upside down by a serious diagnosis. After learning he’s terminally ill, Pedro finds companionship in a stray dog he takes in from the streets.

Pedro connects with Caramelo on a deep level, and their friendship helps him cope with a very difficult situation. Taking in Caramelo also leads Pedro to meet Camila (Arianne Botelho), a dog rescuer, and start a new relationship with her.

The diagnosis brings him together with Leo (Bruno Vinicius), another patient battling cancer, and they become friends. The main cast of *Caramelo* also includes Kelzy Ecard, Ademara, Noemia Oliveira, and Carolina Ferraz. Cristin Pereira, Paolo Carosella, Roger Gobeth, Mateus Ribeiro, Olivia Araújo, and Gillray Coutinho also make appearances in the film.
