Amal Clooney was incredibly proud this week when her niece, Mia Hamiyeh, officially became a lawyer, continuing the family tradition.
On Tuesday, the 23-year-old daughter of Amal Clooney’s sister, Tala Alamuddin, and Nagi Hamiyeh, graduated with honors from BPP Law School in London.
Fashion designer Tala, 53, posted photos to Instagram of her daughter, Mia, looking beautiful in her graduation cap and gown. Mia received her degree at a ceremony held at Methodist Central Hall in Westminster, with loved ones watching.
Tala shared her joy online, posting, ‘My heart is so full! My daughter is now a lawyer ❤️.’ She also added, ‘I couldn’t be prouder!’
Mia, looking just like her well-known aunt with her dark eyes, high cheekbones, and brown hair, smiled brightly as she walked across the stage. She shook hands with university officials and then posed for pictures outside, wearing a stylish black tweed suit.

Someone close to the family shared that Amal is incredibly proud of her daughter, Mia. She’s been amazed watching Mia blossom into a confident and smart young woman, and is delighted to see her pursuing what she loves.
I’ve always been so impressed with Amal and everything she does. Her dedication to fighting for justice and supporting women’s rights globally is incredibly inspiring to me.
Amal Clooney, a 47-year-old international human rights lawyer and wife of actor George Clooney, has a strong relationship with her niece. They married in 2014 and have two children together.
Mia was a flower girl at her aunt’s glamorous wedding in Venice, and she assisted with the long train of her beautiful Oscar de la Renta dress.
Last summer, she worked as an intern at the Clooney Foundation for Justice, which was started by Amal and George Clooney to support people whose human rights have been violated globally.
Mia recently completed her legal training at BPP Law School, officially becoming a solicitor. Prior to this, she earned her law degree from SOAS University of London in 2023.
She has a strong background, with experience as a Junior Fellow at King’s College London, a research assistant at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and an intern with the United Nations’ committee working to end discrimination against women.

Mia is the daughter of Tala and Nagi Hamiyeh, and has three brothers. She has twin brothers named Jad and Sari, and another brother whose name is currently unknown.
Tala’s mother, who lives and works between Singapore and London, owns the vibrant fashion brand Totally Tala. The brand is famous for its eye-catching accessories and commitment to environmentally friendly production.
The designer has a very close relationship with her sister, Amal, and frequently joins her at family gatherings. She also actively supports Amal’s charitable efforts. Last week, both attended the Albie Awards in London, an event hosted by Amal and her husband, George.
The Albies are awards established by the Clooney Foundation, named after anti-apartheid activist Albie Sachs. They recognize and support courageous people and organizations fighting for justice around the world.
This year’s gala, held for the first time in London at the Natural History Museum, was a star-studded event. Attendees included Meryl Streep, Emma Thompson, Meg Ryan, Jacinda Ardern, Donatella Versace, Felicity Jones, and John Legend, who also performed.
Mia attended a recent event supporting her aunt and uncle, wearing a black strapless gown. Her grandmother, journalist Baria Alamuddin, was also there. Mia had previously joined her mother and brothers at the London premiere of her uncle George’s new film, Jay Kelly.
Amal is a highly respected human rights lawyer known globally. She has represented many important people, such as Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Ressa, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, and journalists who were imprisoned in Egypt and Myanmar.
She works as a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers in London and previously advised the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court.
She’s recently led international efforts to fight war crimes and sexual violence, all while raising her eight-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, with her husband George. They balance these commitments with family life at their homes in Berkshire and Lake Como.
