Former tennis star Jelena Dokic, now a television personality, says she’s feeling happier than ever and hinted that she might be getting married soon.
The 42-year-old looked glowing while speaking to Daily Mail at Channel Nine‘s 2026 presentation in Sydney. She shared thoughts on her personal growth and gave a sneak peek at her future plans, both personally and professionally.
After years of dedication, recovery, and self-improvement, the former top-five player says she’s feeling fantastic both personally and in her career.
Jelena shared that she’s feeling incredibly happy and fulfilled in both her career and personal life. She described the recent changes as a positive and surprisingly comfortable experience, especially considering she hadn’t always felt that way.
Jelena responded to questions about marrying her boyfriend, Yane Veselinov, with a laugh, but she didn’t say it would *never* happen.
‘Oh no,’ she said with a smile. ‘I’ll let you know in time, but no [not right now].’
Jelena, a popular sports commentator in Australia, says openly sharing her personal story was a key moment in building her self-confidence and finding happiness.
She shared her story publicly hoping to support others and amplify their voices, she explained.
It grew into something really big and meaningful, which I truly care about. That experience helped me heal and gain confidence, and it’s opened doors to opportunities like public speaking and appearing on TV. I’m incredibly thankful for everything that’s happened.
This year has been incredibly successful for the tennis star, highlighted by winning a TV Week Logie Award.
‘I genuinely didn’t think it was even near possible to win,’ Jelena said of her big night.
Being nominated was already a huge honor, especially alongside Todd Woodbridge, who’s been a fantastic mentor and friend. It was incredibly special when we both actually won!
Jelena is also happy in her personal life. She recently revealed she’s in a relationship with Yane, who works managing operations in the hospitality industry.
Jelena and her partner publicly confirmed their relationship in July 2025 with a sweet Instagram post. Jelena wrote about finding her ‘calm, safe, peaceful, and happy place’ with them.
The couple has generally kept their relationship private. Jelena has said this is because, after years of being in the spotlight, she’s committed to safeguarding their happiness.
She shared with 9Honey earlier this year that growing up in the public eye has shaped her priorities. She emphasized the importance of her partner feeling at ease with her public life.
Before her current relationship, Jelena was with Tin Bikic for almost 19 years. They separated in 2021.
Now, with her career and personal life thriving, Jelena says she’s ready for a new chapter.
I always feel like there’s something exciting just around the corner, but honestly, I’m really hoping we can end this year with a fantastic finish. That’s what she said, and I couldn’t agree more!
I’m looking forward to the Australian Open and also have some personal goals for next year, like publishing a new book.
Jelena is facing the future with her usual optimism and strength, both in tennis and in life.
She said the tennis season is almost here, beginning in just over two months, and she’s excited about it.
