Redanian Intelligence reports that filming for *House of the Dragon* Season 3 has finished. Production started six months ago in March at Leavesden Studios in Watford. Now that filming is complete and the show is in post-production, Season 3 is still expected to premiere on HBO in Summer 2026. Fans anticipate a release schedule similar to Season 2, which aired its ten episodes from June to August 2024, though this hasn’t been officially confirmed.
House of the Dragon is inspired by George R.R. Martin’s book, Fire & Blood, which details the history of the Targaryen family. The show is a fantasy drama set about 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and it tells the story of how the Targaryen dynasty began to fall apart. Specifically, it focuses on the lead-up to and the events of the Dance of the Dragons, a devastating war that ultimately destroyed the Targaryens’ power. The upcoming third season will show this war escalating dramatically.
House of the Dragon Season 3 Is Full of New Cast Additions
Season 3 of *House of the Dragon* will introduce several new actors to the series. Among them is a pivotal warrior from George R.R. Martin’s *Fire & Blood* who fights for Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) during the Dance of the Dragons and later marries Lord Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor), becoming a significant figure in House Stark history. Joining the cast are also James Norton as Ormund Hightower, a cousin of Alicent, Tommy Flanagan as Lord Roderick Dustin, and Dan Fogler as Ser Torrhen Manderly.
HBO is expanding the world of *Game of Thrones* with spinoff series, starting with *House of the Dragon*.
