Thunderpick World Championship 2025 stream, schedule, matchups, and results

This tournament features a mix of lesser-known teams going up against the top Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) competitors, and the rewards are substantial.

The CS2 Thunderpick World Championship 2025 is smaller in scale with just eight teams competing, as several leading teams chose not to participate. However, the tournament’s unique format still makes it an engaging event to watch.

Those who received invitations are expected to win the largest share of the $850,000 prize. However, all qualified teams have an opportunity to prove themselves, potentially defeat a top contender, and advance their careers in competitive CS2.

The focus of the Thunderpick World Championship 2025 changes as the tournament progresses. Initially, it’s about unexpected teams challenging established powerhouses, but later it becomes a competition between the very best teams vying for a large prize pool.

A nice chance for smaller teams

It’s exciting to see new teams getting a chance in the CS2 esports scene. We saw this at EPL Season 22, where several lesser-known teams performed incredibly well and even scored some surprising wins.

The initial phase of the Thunderpick World Championship is really about giving these underdog teams a chance. They fought their way through preliminary rounds, and now they’re up against the most well-known Counter-Strike organizations.

Watching the best teams compete is always exciting, and that’s likely what we’ll see throughout the playoffs.

The top favorites: Tournament preview

This CS2 tournament features four teams, and it’s surprisingly difficult to pick a clear winner.

  • The MongolZ won the Esports World Cup 2025, but they could not qualify for the EPL C22 Playoffs. Their losses were mainly to underdogs.

  • NAVI is on the rollercoaster right now. They reached the top 4 at IEM Cologne 2025, but then experienced a downfall of results, including skipping the final parts at BLAST Bounty Fall, the EWC, and BLAST Open Fall.

  • Aurora may seem like a smaller team, but they were in the grand final of the EWC 2025.

  • FURIA may have the best winning chances — on paper. They defeated The MongolZ in the grand final of FISSURE Playground #2 and had a great run at EPL S22, stopped only by Vitality.

The next chance to watch a competitive Counter-Strike 2 tournament is PGL Masters Bucharest 2025, running from October 24th to November 1st. While the tournament offers a $625,000 prize, only Aurora, a well-known team, is participating among the top competitors.

The best esports players will compete in Chengdu, China at the Intel Extreme Masters 2025 tournament from November 3rd to 9th.
