are teaming up for a brand-new movie. The pair are set to star in Send Help from director .
Okay, so I just saw this survival horror flick, and it’s… something. It starts with two coworkers, Bradley and Linda, whose plane goes down on a deserted island. Naturally, they’ve got some history, and the movie is about them trying to put that aside and just *survive*. But things quickly get weird. It’s not just about battling the elements; it’s about these two constantly getting under each other’s skin. Honestly, it veers into really dark, funny territory – less terrifying monster movie, more unsettling comedy of errors as they basically try to outsmart and out-annoy each other. It’s a battle of wills disguised as a survival story, and I found it surprisingly engaging.
Director Raimi was initially attracted to the film because of the intricate connection between its main characters. He described Linda and Bradley as flawed, realistic people who were frequently in disagreement and facing difficult circumstances. He was particularly drawn to the film’s unique and bold premise, and how it explored the shifting power balance and ongoing conflict between the two characters, immediately inspiring him to take on the project.
I was so excited to hear the director talk about the first photos from the movie! Apparently, Rachel’s character washes up on the shore after a plane crash – she and her awful boss are the only ones who made it. It’s the very beginning of their ordeal on the island, and it’s cool to see Linda finally getting to use all her survival skills. Poor Dylan’s character is really hurt, drifting in and out of it, and Linda’s taking care of him, giving him coconut water to help him recover.
Director Sam Raimi portrays Linda as a highly skilled and dedicated, yet underappreciated, member of her company’s strategy team. After becoming stranded on an island with Bradley, she rises to the occasion. Raimi explained that when her character, Rachel, realizes she needs protein to survive, she takes action – referencing a memorable image of McAdams wielding a spear as a visual representation of this determination.
Send Help Has A Deeper Message
The film, featuring Chris Pang and Dennis Haysbert, is about more than just staying alive. Director Raimi shared, “At its heart, this is a story about someone overcoming the odds.” It’s not just about surviving on a deserted island, but also about a woman finding her strength and changing her life. It’s particularly rewarding to see a formerly powerful man rely on someone he previously dismissed. Raimi believes this makes the story relatable to everyone!”
I was really struck by something Raimi said – he wants to see a world where everyone gets treated with respect and kindness, no matter who they are. He also talked about how awesome it is to watch Linda, the main character, really find herself in this crazy situation she’s in. He’d mentioned something similar a few months ago, back in February, and it’s great to hear him expand on those ideas.
Send Help debuts in theaters worldwide on Jan. 30, 2026.
