The second season of the show starts tonight on CBS. Before the first episode airs, Austin Stowell revealed what happens to a character many fans love.
In an interview with TV Line, actor Patrick Stowell revealed that Mariel Molino, who plays special agent Cecilia “Lala” Dominguez, will be returning to the show. Stowell explained that after a serious accident, Lala’s return to work will be a gradual process, requiring adjustments and small steps forward.
Natalia Molino has played Lala Dominguez alongside Mark Harmon’s Leroy Jethro Gibbs for the duration of *NCIS: Origins*. This popular prequel series, set in 1991, shows Gibbs’ beginnings with the Naval Investigative Service, which later became NCIS. Recently, Molino’s character was found unconscious following a serious car accident.
Despite a scary situation, it seemed the character would recover and continue her work with the NIS. However, fans wondered for months if she would actually be back. Luckily, *NCIS: Origins* debuted in 2024, pleasing fans and receiving mostly positive reviews. Currently, Season 1 of *NCIS: Origins* has an 88% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
Many viewers recommend checking out *NCIS: Origins* because of its strong start. On Rotten Tomatoes, the first season has a 73% audience score, based on feedback from over 50 viewers.
NCIS: Origins Season 2 Will Cross Over with NCIS
This September, CBS confirmed a connection between the original *NCIS* series, now entering its 23rd season, and the new prequel, *NCIS: Origins*, even though the shows take place decades apart. On November 11th, *NCIS: Origins* will present a new mystery that its main investigators won’t be able to solve. Immediately following, a new episode of the original *NCIS* will continue the story, with the current team investigating the unsolved case left behind by the *Origins* characters.
The new season of ‘NCIS’ will finally reveal a side of Gibbs fans haven’t seen before: a formal interrogation. Co-showrunner Gina Lucita Monreal hinted at this development, explaining that while viewers have witnessed Gibbs questioning suspects in various settings, they haven’t yet seen him conduct a full, intense interrogation. She’s eager for audiences to see how that first interrogation will play out.
NCIS: Origins Season 2 premieres on CBS on Oct. 14, with new episodes airing weekly.
