Influencer job from hell? Australia’s top social media star offering dismal pay to executive assistant tasked with running her life

Indy Clinton is looking to hire a new assistant, and the job is expected to be challenging.

The 28-year-old influencer recently advertised on Seek for a full-time executive assistant to help manage both her work and personal life.

Indy shares three children – Navy, four, Bambi, two, and Soul, ten months – with husband Ben Azar.

‘You will support both the professional and personal aspects of her life,’ the advertisement read.

‘You will help with content production, admin, brand relationships, and logistical organisation.’

The job posting is for an executive assistant, but the required tasks seem to go above and beyond what’s usually expected of that role.

Honestly, when I read that job description, it was like they were describing *me*! They want someone who can roll with the punches, doesn’t need to be told what to do, and *knows* they’re good at what they do. Seriously, it’s like they peeked inside my head and wrote this just for me. I *am* that person!

You’ll also assist with family needs, like managing kids’ activities and providing occasional help with childcare while working.

This role involves providing comprehensive executive and personal support, handling everything from managing daily schedules and correspondence to coordinating travel and personal/family commitments. It also includes creating content and liaising with clients in person and online.

These tasks already amount to a full work week – over 38 hours – and that’s not even the complete picture.

The ideal candidate will handle Indy’s daily schedule, arrange meetings, and maintain communication with various agencies and brands.

Indy will be accompanied on both domestic and international trips, and they’ll help with shooting and editing videos for her social media.

On top of everything else, the job also involves running errands for Indy – things like grocery shopping and picking up packages – and even planning family gatherings like birthday parties.

Applicants should also be able to manage their time and responsibilities, including tracking invoices, deadlines, and balancing work with personal and family commitments.

Given the amount of work involved, you might expect a high salary, but that’s not necessarily the case.

However, Indy is offering between $35 and $50 per hour for the demanding role.

Someone earning around $63,500 a year from a standard full-time job would fall into the lower income bracket. However, given the demands of this position, it’s likely some extra hours and overtime would be needed.

This is significantly lower than the average Australian salary, which the Australian Bureau of Statistics currently reports as $88,400.

According to job site Seek, executive assistants in Australia typically earn between $90,000 and $100,000 annually. This salary range is similar to the higher end of what Indy is requesting.

This comes after Indy shared details about a slightly uncomfortable meeting with TikTok star Anna Paul at the TikTok Awards last year.

The popular social media personalities presented an award together on stage, but viewers noticed they seemed to be having trouble reading the script and looked uncomfortable.

The influencer explained to LiSTNR’s Happy Hour with Lucy & Nikki that the problem wasn’t a falling out between them, but rather a lack of practice and some eleventh-hour adjustments.

She explained that the change happened very suddenly, and because she was brought in at the last minute, a major mistake occurred.

I spent the whole day practicing, but Anna Paul could only stop by for a short time – maybe ten or fifteen minutes. It was really frustrating.

When the video of the two women trying to speak to the crowd went viral, people had different reactions. Some thought they were just nervous, while others speculated they might be having a disagreement.

Someone mentioned that Indy clearly doesn’t care for Anna, and another person added that Anna seemed really anxious and they felt sorry for her.

‘Why does Indy look uncoordinated talking to Anna?’ asked one person in the comments.
