Becoming Prime Minister requires strong negotiation and strategic skills, along with a relentless drive to win elections and maintain leadership.
And when it comes to Justin Trudeau‘s love life, these skills appear to have served him well.
A source told the Daily Mail that the 53-year-old Canadian politician has been actively pursuing Katy Perry. They’ve reportedly been secretly texting for months and are now in an exclusive relationship.
According to a source, Justin really pursued Katy, and she enjoys spending time with him and appreciates his intelligence. However, she was hesitant to start a relationship so soon after her breakup and was prioritizing her world tour.
‘But Justin continued to be present, continued showing up and wanting to be with her.’
The pair were first seen taking a stroll through Mount Royal Park in Montreal, and then enjoyed a private dinner together in July. This was just weeks after Perry, age 40, revealed she had ended her engagement with Orlando Bloom, 48.

Immediately, everyone became obsessed with the details of how they met – apparently at an event both attended – and wondered what could possibly bring them together, as well as if the dating rumors were true.
Despite rumors of a blossoming romance, the pair’s meeting was dismissed as simply a friendly get-together, and reports indicated they didn’t intend to see each other again.
A period of quiet ended this weekend when the Daily Mail published exclusive photos of the couple kissing and embracing on a yacht – Perry’s vessel, the Caravelle – near Santa Barbara, California.
Justin Trudeau appeared very affectionate with his partner, playfully grabbing her rear while she hugged him. They seemed lost in the moment, not noticing a boat nearby.
Someone who photographed the scene last month reported seeing a woman pull her boat alongside a whale-watching vessel, where she began kissing a man. The witness initially didn’t recognize the man, but then noticed a tattoo on his arm and realized it was Justin Trudeau.
The new couple values their privacy and, even though they’ve been enjoying each other’s company, they don’t want to publicize their relationship.
Apparently, Trudeau was upset about the attention surrounding their July dinner. A source previously told the Daily Mail he ‘wasn’t thrilled’ when photos from the meal were published.
According to a source, while Katy didn’t appear particularly upset, he was quite bothered by the situation. It didn’t make him leave, but it wasn’t a comfortable experience for him.
The pair enjoyed dinner at Le Violon restaurant, sharing cocktails and trying a variety of dishes, including lobster. They were so pleased with their meal that they went back to the kitchen to personally thank the restaurant staff.
Even though he had some doubts, the former Canadian Prime Minister went to Perry’s concert two days later and made sure he was visible to the audience.
According to a source, maintaining privacy in her relationships is very important to her and will remain so. Katy doesn’t feel the need to publicize who she’s dating, preferring things to unfold organically, as they have been.

The past few months have been challenging for Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom. Perry’s recent album wasn’t well-received, her trip to space with Blue Origin received criticism, and she and Bloom ended their relationship. They share a four-year-old daughter named Daisy and had been together since 2016. Bloom proposed to Perry with a large, flower-shaped diamond ring—estimated to be worth $5 million—on Valentine’s Day in 2019.
According to a source, Perry’s former partner isn’t concerned with what Orlando Bloom thinks about her new boyfriend, Justin. The source told the Daily Mail she ‘doesn’t know and doesn’t care’ what Orlando’s opinion is.
He’s also completely free to make his own choices. She’s enjoying herself and deserves to, and he does too, according to the source.
Following his resignation in January after a significant downturn in public opinion, Trudeau is now adjusting to life away from the prime minister’s residence at 24 Sussex Drive.
Similar to Perry, he’s been figuring out how to effectively raise his three children – Xavier, 17, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11 – following his separation from his wife, Sophie Gregoire, in 2023 after two decades together.
People close to Perry say he’s a loving father, and one source shared that they didn’t think they’d fall for him, but they did.
She’s so in love that they’ve managed to maintain their relationship even with her incredibly busy schedule – a 91-date world tour with Lifetime. She’s currently performing in Europe and the tour will finish on December 7th.
According to a source, she’s glad she still has tour dates coming up, as it means she won’t be with Justin constantly. However, she’s happy with him, and the time apart is actually strengthening their bond. They have a strong connection and are now officially exclusive – it’s more than just casual dating.
Following the public display of affection between the new couple, Justin Trudeau’s former partner has posted a cryptic message about moving on from love.
I was really moved by what my favorite TV host shared on Instagram yesterday. She talked so beautifully about learning to let go of past loves, and it really resonated with me. She’s 50, and her words felt so wise and powerful.
You know, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how everything beautiful in life is, by its very nature, fleeting. It’s easy to get caught up in wanting to *hold on* to things – people, places, even those perfect little moments – but I’ve realized nothing is truly meant to be kept forever. It’s a tough truth, but accepting that helps you appreciate everything so much more, doesn’t it?
Time encourages us to release things, but we often struggle to do so. I understand why – it feels more secure to hold on than to let go.
Gregoire explained that love isn’t about owning someone, but about creating room for genuine connection, closeness, cherished memories, and personal growth.
Perhaps the most profound lesson love teaches us is to remain open and accepting of change. We can cherish what once was, while also trusting that letting go doesn’t mean losing it forever – it simply transforms into a memory held safely within us, untouched by loss, she explained.
The Daily Mail has contacted reps for Perry and Trudeau for comment.
