A new Marvel comic is coming out featuring Jar Jar Binks, and it looks like it will explore the fallout from his decision to give emergency powers to Palpatine. The story will reveal Jar Jar’s part in the events leading up to something big, and will also include a guest appearance by the popular Jedi Knight, Kelleran Beq!
Jar Jar Binks is a character in the *Star Wars* prequel trilogy. He played a significant role in *Episode I – The Phantom Menace* and had a supporting part in *Episode II – Attack of the Clones*. He made a brief appearance in *Episode III – Revenge of the Sith* and also appeared in *Star Wars: The Clone Wars*.
Jar Jar Binks Arrived in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy to Heated Backlash
When Jar Jar Binks first appeared in *Episode I*, he was meant to be a funny character, but he wasn’t well-received. Both critics and viewers generally disliked him, and he became known as one of the most hated characters in *Star Wars* and film history. Some people felt Jar Jar relied on hurtful stereotypes about Black people, though actor Ahmed Best denied this was intentional.
Following the release of *The Phantom Menace*, many fans and figures within the *Star Wars* community have spoken up in support of Jar Jar Binks. Even George Lucas has pointed out the series was initially created for a younger audience, and Frank Oz, who played Yoda, has stated Jar Jar Binks is his favorite character in the entire franchise.
Although Jar Jar Binks was initially unpopular with many fans, Ahmed Best, the actor who played him, remains proud of his work – and that’s being recognized now with a new story featuring the character. Over time, opinions have shifted, and some fans now appreciate Jar Jar Binks’ place in movie history as the first fully computer-generated supporting character in a live-action film.
Star Wars: Jar Jar Binks #1 goes on sale in February 2026 from Marvel Comics.
