“Deliciously diabolical” thriller Yellowjackets confirmed to end with season 4 and fans aren’t happy

Fans of *Yellowjackets* have both good and bad news: the show will return for a fourth season, but that will be its final season. Production is currently underway.

The series centers around a group of teens who survive a plane crash and must navigate the challenges of being stranded in the wilderness for eighteen months, facing terrifying ordeals along the way.

The series alternates between the present and a future timeline, 25 years after the characters were saved. It becomes clear that their experiences in the wilderness have had a lasting and damaging psychological impact on many of them.

Writers are currently working on season 4, which currently does not have a release date.

The show’s creators, Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, announced on Instagram that the upcoming episodes will be the last.

After three amazing seasons, we’ve decided to end the story of *Yellowjackets* with a fourth and final season, bringing its wild and complex narrative to a conclusion.

We always knew the story would eventually reach its natural conclusion, and we feel it’s our duty to respect that. It’s been incredibly rewarding and a privilege to tell this emotional, complex, and ultimately human story. We’re deeply thankful to the talented cast, crew, and writers who shared this journey with us and helped bring it to life.

We especially want to thank our incredible fans – the Hive – for being with us through everything, good and bad! You mean the world to us, and we’re excited to finally share the conclusion of the story with you. We hope you enjoy it!

Honestly, the reaction from other gamers was pretty negative when the news dropped. I saw a lot of people asking if the plan had changed, because a lot of us were expecting a five-season arc. One person even said four seasons just wasn’t enough to tell the whole story, and I totally agree – I was really disappointed too.

However, some people weren’t bothered, and others wished the show would conclude in a satisfying way, rather than feeling hurried.

From its three seasons so far, the show has a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The *Boston Globe* praised the consistently excellent performances, and *The Atlantic* commented that while the plot was far-fetched, the series offered a surprisingly disturbing and original perspective.

Okay, so I just heard what Perri Nemiroff said about the show, and she totally nailed it. She described it as a really gripping and surprisingly evil-fun watch – basically, the mystery is super complex and keeps you hooked, and the actors are all fantastic. It’s seriously good stuff!

Yellowjackets can be streamed on Paramount+ in the UK.
