Andrew Garfield has said he won’t be in the upcoming *Avengers: Doomsday* (2026) and *Avengers: Secret Wars* (2027), but many fans don’t believe him. While talking about his new movie, *After the Hunt*, in an interview with *MTV*, Garfield was hesitant when asked directly about whether he’d be involved in the films.
Okay, so I was watching this interview with Garfield, and he was being super playful! He was cracking up and basically teasing the interviewer, Josh Horowitz, about whether he was giving anything away about a potential role. He kept saying things like, ‘Is this a tell?’ and ‘You’ll find out,’ which was hilarious. Then he said he’s a big fan of the Spider-Verse movies and is always up for having fun, no matter what. He’s definitely good at keeping secrets, but it was fun watching him try not to reveal anything!
People on Reddit have been discussing the interview, and many believe Andrew Garfield is trying to avoid revealing too much. One user commented with a laughing emoji, saying, “He’s clearly lost for words and trying to deflect attention. The publicity surrounding ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ really shook him up.”

Someone else agreed, saying he’s really giving it his all! And honestly, he’s my absolute favorite Spider-Man actor, so I’m really hoping this happens, haha!
As excitement grows for *Avengers: Doomsday*, Andrew Garfield has repeatedly been asked about his involvement. In a recent video with *GQ*, he gave a very direct answer to fans’ questions, stating, “No, absolutely not!”

It’s not surprising fans are skeptical, considering Andrew Garfield has previously given false information about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Before Spider-Man: No Way Home came out in 2021, he said he wouldn’t be returning as Peter Parker.
After it was finally revealed that he and Tobey Maguire were back, Garfield shared that keeping the news a secret had been “stressful.”
“Honestly, it was really stressful,” he admitted to *TheWrap*. “But it was also strangely fun.”

Garfield described the experience as a playful, large-scale version of the game Werewolf, where he engaged with journalists and enjoyed the guessing game. He admitted it was challenging at times, saying, ‘I really don’t like lying, and I’m not very good at it,’ but he reframed it in his mind as a game. He found it easy to simply imagine himself as a fan of the character he was discussing.
He explained that he’d want the actor to be so convincing that he’d completely believe the performance was real. Then, he’d want to be utterly captivated and thrilled when his gut feeling turned out to be correct – that’s the experience he was hoping for.
Avengers: Doomsday is expected to land in UK cinemas on 18 December 2026.
