Gigi Hadid got emotional remembering hurtful comments about her body after walking in the Victoria’s Secret fashion show for the first time a decade ago.
The 30-year-old model, who recently mentioned her boyfriend Bradley Cooper, discussed a certain subject in a video posted to Instagram by the lingerie brand on Friday.
The celebrity is getting ready to walk the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on October 15th later this month.
Hadid auditioned for the show a couple of times before finally being chosen to walk the runway in 2015.
She described the joy of getting her first show, saying she was incredibly happy for her younger self.
The mother became emotional, explaining that her daughter really wanted something and it was painful to look back on how difficult things were for her at that time. She added that it wasn’t just her own experience, but that society often places harsh expectations on girls.
Hadid reflected that looking back at old photos makes her realize how great things were. She feels proud of her past accomplishments and believes she earned her success during that time.
Honestly, seeing her success just fills my heart! It reminds me of when *I* first discovered the show as a teenager, and it’s amazing to see someone else get their start – it’s a full-circle moment!
She explained that it captured all the enjoyable and stimulating aspects of working in that environment.
Following her appearance in the 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Gigi Hadid responded to criticism about her body in an interview with Vogue.
I’m active and enjoy being fit, but I appreciate my body for all it’s accomplished. I won’t change who I am to please someone who isn’t happy with their own life.
The celebrity emphasized that Victoria’s Secret Angels, herself, and plus-size models all still have a place in the industry.
In September of that year, she had also taken to social media to defend herself as a model.
I don’t really fit the typical model look you see on runways. I’m also not necessarily the strongest performer in any show. I’m hoping to develop my own style on the catwalk, but I also recognize I need to keep practicing and getting better.
Hadid pointed out that she’s not unique as a model and acknowledged that people might have their own ideas about how she’s achieved her success.
